MOSCOW, January 14. /TASS/. Tunisia hopes to create a free trade zone with the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Tunisian Ambassador in Moscow Ali Gutali told a news conference on Wednesday.
âThe Customs Union (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan)Â is a very important structure,â the diplomat said, noting that âwe want to get closer to it, including through creation of a free trade zone."
âWe also call for creating such zone with the EEU (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia) as well. We already asked for Russiaâs official consent on this issue. We hope that we will join this union in the near future.â
As for prospects of Russian-Tunisian partnership, Ali Gutali noted that âTunisia wants to make cooperation with Russia strategic.â âWe are interested in Russian investments,â he noted.
The ambassador noted sweeping prospects for tourism cooperation, particularly after Tunisia had introduced visa-free rules with Russia. âIn 2013, more than 300,000 Russians visited Tunisia,â he noted, adding that âwe hope tourist inflow will grow.â.
