Klein, Felix (1849-1925)

German mathematician who began his career as Plücker's assistant at Bonn. Klein studied analytic geometry, Eric Weisstein's World of Math describing geometry as the study of properties of figures which remain invariant under a group Eric Weisstein's World of Math of transformations. Eric Weisstein's World of Math He systemized non-Euclidean geometry Eric Weisstein's World of Math and wrote a book on the icosahedron Eric Weisstein's World of Math in 1884. He also worked on the development of group theory Eric Weisstein's World of Math and collaborated with Lie in Erlanger Programm. He also is known in topology Eric Weisstein's World of Math for the one-sided Klein bottle. Eric Weisstein's World of Math In addition to all his other work, he found time to write a classic history of mathematics.
