Outfielder Ben Revere is scheduled to rejoin the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday, April 25, to replace left fielder Josh Willingham, who will begin a three-day paternity leave to be with his pregnant wife.

Revere was optioned to Class AAA Rochester on April 14 after Clete Thomas was claimed off waivers from Detroit. Revere hit .222 in 27 at-bats for Rochester after batting only .182 in 11 at bats for the Twins.

“I’ll probably bring him up here, stick him out there and let him go,” manager Ron Gardenhire said.

The demotion was Revere’s first as a big-leaguer. He was called up early May 2011 to replace injured Delmon Young. Other than a brief stay on the disabled list with a concussion, Revere remained on the active roster until idleness and a numbers crunch cost him his job.

“You can either sulk, whine and complain about it or do your work. Ben went down and did his work, which I thought he would,” Gardenhire said. “He was tired of sitting up here anyway. That’s the attitude you need to be successful. I didn’t think that would go any differently.”
