Ligue 1

[edit]

Hello. I’ve noticed you removed teams per region in the top 5 leagues, but it is useful. Thank you. 188.29.16.175 (talk) 16:52, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It's useful to a very, very, very small proportion of the readers of these articles. Please read WP:FANCRUFT and do not re-add this content to those articles. – PeeJay 16:54, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

June 2025

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 3 months for making personal attacks towards other editors. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
If you believe that there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:01, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I made no specific personal attacks. I had no idea who was responsible for the state of the article I left that edit summary on. Nevertheless, I have acknowledged that the tone of my edit summary was entirely inappropriate and I have made assurances that I will not make similar comments in the future. A three-month block for something like this is gratuitous and I request that it be reduced drastically. On balance with my overall contributions to this encyclopaedia, the punishment absolutely doesn't fit the crime. – PeeJay 14:04, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

No, those personal attacks over a period of years definitely called for a lengthy block, "gratuitous" doesn't apply here. Now, if you want to try to construct another unblock request that doesn't read as "I didn't do anything wrong, but I won't do it again", you might be able to get it reduced as you request above. SarekOfVulcan (talk) 15:56, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

In addition to the above, this issue is still being discussed at WP:AN, and it doesn't look like User:ScottishFinnishRadish has been involved in that discussion at all. I appreciate admins don't have a hive mind, but while another admin is still questioning whether this is something that actually needs addressing, I'm of the opinion that ScottishFinnishRadish has acted prematurely and excessively. – PeeJay 14:13, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'll also add that this is the first time anyone has upbraided me for anything like this. I recognise that that doesn't mean my conduct was any less inappropriate, but again, I think that suggests the response was excessive. In reference to the edit summaries mentioned by User:ScottishFinnishRadish here, most of those were in response to obvious vandalism. Again, no less inappropriate from me, but it by no means warrants a three-month block. – PeeJay 14:53, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be that SFR has answered my question on their noticeboard response and there is an endemic issue to be addressed. Why do you think its OK to engage with fellow editors in such abusive terms? Spartaz Humbug! 15:56, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't matter that they were in response to obvious vandalism. They are absolutely unacceptable, and the fact you have repeatedly used such edit summaries over a period of years makes it abundantly clear that you never saw a problem with it, reinforced by your initial response when this was brought up at AN: If you're the editor of the article and you don't have a learning disability, that's all you have to say. Speaking frankly after that comment you're extremely fortunate this wasn't an indef. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:22, 4 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to Ulster Rugby season article

[edit]

One, it is perfectly normal for the table to come before the fixtures in a sporting competition, because it's the summary, the fixtures are the detail. Second, it is perfectly normal for an article to contain details that aren't notable enough to have their own articles. For example, Ulster's position in the URC Irish Shield doesn't get its own article, nor does the men's squad, neither do individual matches. The season itself is notable, the details just need to be cited. And I'm very meticulous about that. Your edits are pretty much entire unconstructive. Nicknack009 (talk) 14:05, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree with you, but I'll address this in greater detail when the above issue has been resolved. – PeeJay 14:06, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What needs to be resolved? I'll give you some examples. 2024–25 Premier League. 2024–25 United Rugby Championship. 1986 FIFA World Cup. 2020 Indian Premier League. 2024 Currie Cup Premier Division. All put the tables before the fixtures/results, because, as I said, the table is the summary, the fixtures are the detail, and that's the natural order they go in. --Nicknack009 (talk) 14:24, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about the section above this one, that's what needs to be resolved, and I'd rather not risk having the privilege of being able to edit my own talk page removed for carrying on. Again, I disagree with you and I think you're comparing apples to oranges by picking those articles, but I will address your concerns properly in due course. – PeeJay 14:27, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
