What problem are you solving?

As part of the migration to Swift Package Manager, the google_maps_flutter plugin needs to add SPM support. The mechanism we have used for several years in this plugin to allow clients to get the latest version of the Google Maps SDK that is compatible with the versions of iOS their app supports will not work in SPM, so we need an alternate approach to versioning the SDK dependency. This document describes the problem, and explores possible approaches.
