The TendermintCore featureset is frozen (reverted to) 0.34.xx, the latest protocol used by cosmoshub-4 and many chains. The goal of this repo is to preserve the 0.34 design and continue to serve as a production ready consensus engine for all chains that want to build on Tendermint 0.34.

Besides the motivation for long term support of Tendermint 0.34, the other goal is to encourage distinctly named variations of Tendermint. The Informal team has created a fork called CometBFT, which diverges significantly from the 0.34 design. All in Bits, Inc is working on another designed called Tendermint2.
