'We Stand with Mitt': Student Republicans of Utah crowdfund billboard

(KUTV) — A new billboard on Interstate 15 in Orem aims to thank Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, for his vote to impeach President Donald Trump.

The billboard, released by Student Republicans of Utah reads: "We stand with Mitt Romney."

Efforts to create the billboard began with a GoFundMe account created by Alex Thompson, founder of Student Republicans of Utah. After he raised the $550 needed for the billboard, Thompson contacted Republicans for the Rule of Law who partnered with the group to purchase the billboard.

Thompson says:

Many Utahans know Mitt to be a man of great faith and character. Most are proud of what he has done, despite what the media might say. We want to take this opportunity to thank Mitt for his integrity, character, and faith in doing what he thought was right, especially when it wasn't easy.

Mitt's decision last week was a perfect representation of how Utahans have always felt. That is, that principles and values always come before party. Student Republicans of Utah is proud to stand with Mitt.

The billboard will be up for one week.
