The red bars show the annual-mean sea ice area changes for the models which simulate a snowfall rate during the period 1986–2005 close to the CloudSat snowfall rate (±20 %) on the Antarctic continent (north of 82°S). The error bars show the standard deviation of the sea ice area changes in the southern hemisphere simulated by the CMIP5 models
