From: Evaluation of current and projected Antarctic precipitation in CMIP5 models

Annual-mean sea ice area in the southern hemisphere simulated by the CMIP5 models during the period 1986–2005 in the Historical scenario (yellow bars). The red bars show the annual-mean sea ice area for the models which simulate a snowfall rate during the period 1986–2005 close to the CloudSat snowfall rate (±20 %) on the Antarctic continent (north of 82°S). The annual-mean sea ice area in the southern hemisphere observed by remote sensing during the period 1986–2005 has also been reported (blue bar). The error bars show the standard deviation of the sea ice area in the southern hemisphere simulated by the CMIP5 models
