Edition Notes
Note to the 1988 edition:
An Atlas of Typeforms was first published in 1968, and is a unique record of five centuries of metal type. Since the original publication the whole process of creating type has changed. Redrawn for photocomposition and redrawn again for digital setting, the type names stay the same, but shapes and sizes have altered. The last twenty years have seen more technological development to the printing process than the previous five centuries.
An Atlas of Typeforms is today not a working tool, but a classic record of metal type design.
