Music sets moods, sets the pace, and otherwise helps make movies more communicative and entertaining. We tend to go with the record company definition of the soundtrack. The background orchestral music, usually by a single composer, is the score. Other various songs and instrumental pieces make up the soundtrack.

The soundtracks search is a "phrase search." This means, unlike many IMDb searches, the words in the search will only be found in the same order in the soundtracks data files (i.e. if you're looking for a song called "young and healthy," you can enter "young" or "healthy" or "young and healthy," but "young healthy" will not work).

Besides searching for song titles, you can search for the names of song writers and song performers.
