Decent but not really worth watching, 16 April 2005

Suspect Zero is an average thriller that doesn't really offer anything
new to its audience. FBI profiler Thomas Mackelway {Eckhart} is
investigating a strange murder that he learns may be committed by a
former FBI agent {Ben Kingsley} using his profiling skills to track and
kill other serial killers. The comparisons to this film are easy to
find. They are pointless to talk about though since Suspect Zero is its
own film. The story is very interesting and the trailer was also pretty
good. The execution of the story isn't very good though. There were
some creepy moments but the film was also kind of boring. The best
thing about Suspect Zero is Ben Kingsley. He does a very good job and I
was wondering why he was in this film since he is way above this
material. I thought Aaron Eckhart was terrible and he gave a pretty
dull performance. This wouldn't had been such a problem if he wasn't
the main character. Carrie-Anne Moss also gives somewhat of a lifeless
performance. If these two had been recast then the movie would have
been better. E. Elias Merhige did a pretty good job of directing but it
was the script that needed work. The film is pretty unrealistic so it
may be hard to stomach some of its scenes. It gets silly at times as
well and that's never a good sign for a thriller. There a few
unanswered questions that are never fully explained either. The film
should hold your attention until the end, as long as you don't take it
too seriously. Suspect Zero has a runtime of 99 minutes which is
relatively short for this type of film. While the film is not
completely predictable its also not hard to figure out where its going.
In the end, there's really no reason to go out and see this but it
wouldn't hurt either if you gave it a look. Rating 5.8/10, not the best
thriller but can still find some fans whom don't take it too serious
