Trivia:
The tanks fielded by general Patton's army in the film are vintage WW2 M-24 "Chaffee" light tanks. The Germans however use post-war American M-60 "Patton" tanks. This is somewhat ironic as the M-60 is called the "Patton".

Terrific title performance from Scott; a powerful war film..., 20 February 2004
Author:
MovieAddict2006 from themovieaddict.com
Amazing story based on the life of the somewhat infamous Patton (George C.
Scott) and his rather unconventional ways. Scott's title performance could
justifiably be called one of the most powerful, raw and moving of all time.
Right up there with some of the best war films--only unlike "Full Metal
Jacket," this one actually has a point.
5/5 stars.
