Like Formula 1 cars from the Fifties, the 8C Competizione has a Transaxle setup, offering the best possible equilibrium in the distribution of weight. The engine is situated directly behind the front wheels, while the gearbox and differential are housed inside the rear axle. This way, the weight on the wheels is balanced, minimising the polar moment and improving the vehicle's stability and response. The 6-speed electro-hydraulic Q-Select sequential gearbox has computer-controlled gear selection using the levers behind the steering wheel.

The 8C Competizione is sold directly by Alfa Romeo Headquarters through a dedicated figure: the Brand Ambassador. He acts as the reference contact for customers, and is responsible for customer screening, contact and management. The Brand Ambassador's car presentation kit consists of an attractive, titanium-colour, soft leather briefcase with the '8C Competizione' logo on the cover, and a leather-covered metal handle.
Inside, it is divided into two handy compartments: the colour compartment with samples of the range of body colours (black, Racing yellow, Alfa Red and the brand new Competizione Red) and exclusive leather interiors.
