Changing Your Thought Process is Hard
I found this video via the AdJoke blog and thought it was worth sharing. Forget about the money noted in the video - consider what it means to change your thought process.
Blogger King Teaches You How to Make More Money Blogging
The Blogger King stopped by the CenterNetworks office today and asked me to setup the tripod and camera. Here's his newest video on how to increase your blog traffic and drive more advertising dollars. Apparently he will be back this week with another "gem" as he called it.
Blogger King Presents... How to Re-Generate Buzz for Your Startup
There's been a lot of talk about new.face this and beta.friend that over the past weeks. Blogger King is back with a new video on how you can easily capitalize on this technique to re-generate more buzz to your startup. It's especially effective when your startup has lost that shiny notation in the blogosphere.
9 Things I'm Done With Online (video)
Tonight I'd like to share with ya'all 9 things I am done with online. Rather than sharing them in text, check out the video below. Please add your suggestions to the list in the comments below.
Skyfire Mobile Browser Review (video)
As some of you know, I have a Samsung ACE mobile device which runs on the super fast EVDO from Sprint. Before I continue, let me just say how sorry I am that those of you with the iPhone 3G are having trouble. The ACE uses Windows Mobile OS and comes pre-installed with the IE mobile browser. This is a complete piece of crap - Microsoft should be ashamed to have included this with the mobile OS (which overall has been pretty good).
I spent $25 for the Opera Mobile browser a couple of months ago and love it. It has allowed me to write posts on CN from anywhere and since I have an actual keyboard, it's easy. The one thing the browser lacks is Flash accessibility.
This weekend I have been playing with a new mobile browser from Skyfire. The Skyfire browser opened in beta earlier this year and it's REALLY slick. It can do practically anything a desktop browser can do. And frankly the speed is the fastest I've seen so far. And just last week they announced Microsoft Silverlight support.
Skyfire recognized that I don't have a touchscreen and installed the appropriate version. If you have a touchscreen, you get a mac-style menu on the top.
Here's my short video demo of the Skyfire browser in action:
MeeMix to Launch Facebook Video Application
A year ago we interviewed MeeMix CEO Gilad Shlang to learn more about his personalized music service. We've just learned that MeeMix plans to launch a Facebook application early next week. MeeVideo is a Facebook application that allows users to choose their favorite artist and get their own personalized music video channel.
The videos will be streamed via YouTube and MeeMix notes, the unique MeeMix taste prediction algorithm analyzes song parameters, member profile and behavior traits to determine each user's personalized playlist as they watch and listen."
What would be great is if the application pulled in music and videos to keep the playlist fresh. This is certainly an application that can seriously increase the time on site metric for Facebook if they can get a strong userbase.
The application will also be available in Hi5, Bebo, Orkut and MySpace. Here's a sample of what the MeeVideo Facebook application:
Alexa RIP 1996-2008
Unfortunately Alexa didn't make it. After stopping to count again yet again, Dr. Stern did all he could to bring the service back. Rest in peace Alexa, rest in peace.
Goodbye Web 2.0... Welcome Cloud Computing
It seems the new buzzword these days is Cloud Computing. Years ago it was called "ASP" then moved to "SaaS" and now it's "Cloud Computing". While some have talked about Web 3.0, it seems like cloud computing is this year's hot topic. The most simple definition of cloud computing is that it's a way to access files and services outside of your own space.
With that said, we received the following video today which I thought was worth sharing:
Qik Cracks the iPhone 3G - Live Streaming on Jailbroken Phones
Live video streaming service Qik has announced that they have cracked the iPhone 3G and you can now record live video on your iPhone. This will only work on jailbroken iPhone devices - that means if you are a good little boy or girl, this won't work for you.
Back in June, Qik announced live iPhone video streaming support for the first generation iPhone. We were first to report on competitor Flixwagon launching live iPhone video streaming support earlier that day.
Here's Michael at Qik explaining how the new video streaming support works:
Of course there's also that little issue of iPhone 3G battery life to deal with.
Hulu Gets Choppin' and Dicin' With the Food Network
Video hosting provider Hulu has announced a distribution partnership with the Food Network today. Actually the deal is with Scripps Networks who owns Food Network and will also include clips from Fine Living, HGTV and DIY. The initial batch of clips range from 2-4 minutes and most carry a 30-second pre-roll video ad. That's some ratio of content to ad!
I actually had the opportunity to spend a week at the Food Network studios about two years ago. It's amazing the talent that they have - from the stars in front of the camera to the massive work behind the camera. If you think it's hard to get a movie star to do what the producer wants, just imagine what it's like to keep a cake in perfect condition for an hour under the studio lights. The food is very pampered!
I am not sure if these Scripps Networks clips can be viewed worldwide but if they can, it would be an excellent way for Scripps to draw in a brand new set of viewers.
Check out my post about Food Network star Giada DeLaurentiis and what she can teach you about passion-centric communities.
