Zoning Maps for 50 most populated cities/metro areas in the US |
Listed below are data links for the 50 most populous cities in the US . Please note that department names and responsibilities vary from city to city. A set of data available thru the buildings dept of one city may only be available thru the planning department of another. You will also notice that some city portals are truly cutting edge with on demand zoning maps and e-documents whereas others remain oblivious to IT advances-these poorly designed sites are marked with a red asterisk. For cities that have spread RE data amongst more than one dept, we point you to the actual city web portal rather than a single dept. |

SEARCH TIP: If you cannot find the information you seek, start with the city's main web portal and enter search terms in a web search box. Look for phone numbers/hotlines that one can call for pointers. As a last resort you may email department personnel; for some cities we received responses within minutes while entire departments in other cities ignored multiple emails. |
