Graduates Featured in Final Concert of the Year

Brockport, NY –The College at Brockport’s Department of Dance will present the annual Senior Solo Concert featuring dancers graduating from the BFA, BA, BS, and MFA programs. Two performances will take place on Friday, May 15, 2008 at 5:00 and 7:30 pm in the Hartwell Dance Theater, Kenyon Street, on the Brockport campus. Each show will feature different solos.
BFA students are required to perform in this concert as a capstone event in their undergraduate careers. BA and BS students have the option of participating and this year’s class has responded enthusiastically with close to 100 percent involvement. MFA graduates also will celebrate the occasion with contributions of performance and/or choreography. “In response to the level of interest, we have been compelled to add a second show,” explained artistic director, Suzanne Oliver. “This is a stunningly talented graduating class.”
Faculty members invited to create or restage work on the graduates include Bill Evans, Maura Keefe, Suzanne Oliver and Kevin Warner. In addition, several dancers are choreographing their own solos, while others are performing choreography created for them by graduate students or alumni. The finale for both performances will be a group work created on the dancers by guest artist Earl Mosley.
All audience members and dancers are invited to a reception in the Hartwell Hall lobby immediately following the 7:30 performance. Tickets are not required for the concert or reception but donations to benefit the Friends of Brockport Dance Scholarship Fund will be accepted at the door.
