With the maturing of the national strategy of science and technology development, China have established the national major projects that focus on the national strategic goals and the national science and technology programs that, with the stable support of the state revenue, aims for providing public technological products. The programs include: National Program of Support for Science and Technology, 863 Program, 973 Program, National Natural Science Foundation of China(NSFC), National Major Projects of Science and Technology, the ministerial programs and projects of Beijing.
The scientific and technological research and projects at Tsinghua University are mainly supported by (the special projects and funds of) the national science and technology programs, which provide over 2000 million yuan for more than 1400 projects every year for the university.
In 2013,Tsinghua University conducted 713 new humanities and social sciences research projects, including 3 major projects supported by National Social Science Foundation, converted to 2 key projects, 19 annual projects supported by National Social Science Foundation, 1 project in Humanities and Social Sciences supported by National Social Science Foundation; 2 projects supported by National Office for Education Sciences Planning; 1 authorized project of Philosophy and Social Sciences Research, Ministry of Education; 1 key project of Humanities and Social Sciences Research supported by Ministry of Education;16 annual projects supported by Ministry of Education(including the post-funded projects, the special projects); 5 major projects for the key research centers of Humanities and Social Sciences of Ministry of Education.
