When she was a little kid, singer-songwriter Vicki Peterson was a big fan of the Cowsills, the '60s rock family that inspired "The Partridge Family" televison series. Little did Peterson know that someday she would front a remarkable band with the youngest Cowsill sibling, Susan.
Cowsill and former Bangle Peterson bring a compelling, spiritual presence to the Continental Drifters, a roots music sextet that goes beyond the rain, the park and other things.
The New Orleans-based group also includes keyboardist Peter Holsapple, formerly of the dB's and occasional sideman with Hootie and the Blowfish; Mark Walton, formerly of Dream Syndicate, lead guitarist Robert Mache, and drummer Carlo Nuccio, whose credits range from the Subdudes to Steve Earle. …
