TRAFFIC

Installation

New York, NY

1981

The 24-hour installation produces a cohesive landscape at Columbus Circle using only traffic cones, a material indigenous to the site. Much the way a snowfall veils unlike things, a field of 2500 cones spaced four feet apart visually fuses the six discrete islands that comprise the traffic circle without interfering in traffic flows.
