I am currently a Research Associate at the University of Warwick with a 3-year Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship entitled 'Mental Action and Cognitive Phenomenology'. I started out as an undergrad studying philosophy at Clare College Cambridge. I have since completed a research Masters at the University of York and a PhD at the University of Sussex. I then spent a year as a Lecturer at the University of Glasgow before joining Manchester in September 2013 on a 3-year post-doctoral position with Tim Bayne's Architecture of Consciousness project.
Most of my work revolves around consciousness, but within this field there are many threads to my research. I've published work on the following topics:
Cognitive Phenomenology
The Contents of Perceptual Experience (with a focus on recent work in vision science)
The Subjectivity of Consciousness
Self-Representationalism
The Explanatory Gap
Russellian Monism
I also have an interest in Aesthetics and have a few publications on the Philosophy of Film. I am particular interested in the idea that a film can contribute to our philosophical understanding by playing a role analogous to that of a thought-experiment.
