IPS Full Form is in-plane switching, a type of LED “Light-emitting diode” (a form of LCD full form liquid crystal display)display panel technology. When choosing a PC monitor, you may opt for an IPS panel because of its great image quality. IPS panels are characterized as having the best color and viewing angles among the other main types of display panels, TN (twisted nematic) and VA (vertical alignment). However, IPS panels are also the most expensive of the three. Their best use case is professional (art, graphics et cetera) work. On the other hand, gaming monitor manufacturers tend to opt for TN panels because they’re the fastest of the three main LED panel types. In fact, it’s rare to find an IPS panel with a refresh rate high enough for acceptable gaming (at least 75Hz, although most gaming monitors offer at least 144Hz).

What Is a Difference Between IPS and LCD?

IPS(In-plane switching) is a screen technology for LCDs. They are widely known for displaying consistent, accurate color from all viewing angles and do not lighten or show tailing when touched which is kinda important for touch screen devices. But they have disadvantages too they are expensive to produce, use more power and have a longer response time.

Now, LED(Light-emitting diode) display is a display panel that uses LEDs as each individual pixel to display content. In the past few years, they are more popular as AMOLED and an OLED display in your smartphone, watches, etc

From an end user perspective, I have an IPS panel on my laptop and a LED Panel(AMOLED) on my phone.

IPS monitors have a lot better color reproduction/accuracy, blacks, and viewing angles (as you may well know).
So it will be more pleasant to look at overall and better for watching films.

LED monitors have not as good blacks(but they have deep contrast in them , because when my phone has to display a back color on the screen it simply turns off the pixels/LEDs of the area and also helps in saving battery too) or colour accuracy and poor viewing angles but have a lot better response time which while playing games is better because the moving image will not blur or ghost as much and the input lag time from you moving your mouse to what you have seen on screen will be noticeable (depending on you)

So as you don’t do professional image work or anything like that and don’t play many games that require frame rates then IPS panel is for you.

Advantages
