Neovim since 2014 has gathered the effort of hundreds of contributors to realize these forgotten goals of Vim:
- Work as a component: support embedding as a primary use-case.
- Work as a platform: let users extend the core editor without limits.
- Work as a server: enable new, modern GUIs.
- Works in the terminal: TUI experience should be like any modern GUI
As a concrete medium-term goal, we aim at delivering Neovim 0.5 around the end of 2020. This should have out of the box support for LSP and tree-sitter, and allow a rich ecosystem of plugins to develop around these core features.
516 sponsors are funding neovim’s work.
