The M62 motorway has reopened after a car was involved in a crash which caused long delays.

Police said no-one was injured, but fuel spilled over all lanes of the westbound carriageway between junctions 21 and 22 near Rochdale.

National Highways is advising people to allow extra time if travelling in the area as delays will remain while the traffic caught in the area disperses.

The affected westbound section was closed for four hours, during which time four miles of congestion built up as motorists could not pass through until the spill had been cleared.
