Help me to salt, help me to sorrow

There are lots of superstitions about salt …. Spilling salt is considered bad luck or a sign of broken friendships. It is also considered unlucky to borrow salt & return it without having used any. It is considered very unlucky to add salt to another person's food at the table, hence the saying "Help me to salt, help me to sorrow".
