Praying Mantis

The Mantis is seen as either a blessing or bad omen as superstitions abound across different countries and cultures.

Greek culture: the mantis was thought to bring wisdom and insight.

Chinese culture: Good luck, focus & precision

Southern Africa: Sacred divine messenger or spiritual guide

Christian: Prayer-like, sign of faith, devotion and devine inspiration

Some Europeans: an omen of death or misfortune, especially it it enters a home uninvited.

There is also a superstition in many societies that killing a Praying Mantis will bring extreme bad luck.
