These photographs were inserted into Millicent Garrett Fawcett’s copy of ‘Report into the Concentration Camps of South Africa’ (1902). She led a women-only committee into the conditions in the camps set up by the British during the Second Boer War (11 Oct 1899 until 31 May 1902). The Committee consisted of Millicent Garrett Fawcett, Lady Knox, Dr Jane Waterston, Dr Ella Scarlett, Katherine Bereton (nurse), Lucy Dean (factory inspector).
