Is This Crossover SUV Sony’s Next Drivable PlayStation?
The Sony Vision-S might spawn an electric crossover SUV sibling
Sony took us by surprise when it unveiled the Vision-S concept sedan at this year's CES event in Las Vegas, Nevada. After all, the Japanese brand is known for making the likes of audio/visual equipment, not cars. That may change soon, though, as Motor1 reports a reader spotted a possibly Sony-badged crossover SUV that makes a brief appearance in the below video for the Vision-S.

Don't worry if you missed it, because we nearly did, too. That said, if you pause the video at the 0:41 mark, then you'll see a white vehicle positioned in the background that appears taller and more off-road-oriented in its design then the lower-slung Vision-S sedan. Credit thick wheel arches and a lower fascia that boasts-a likely faux-front skidplate.
Admittedly, the Sony crossover looks more like a styling buck than a functional vehicle (notice the dark windows and dark headlight covers), which means it could simply be an earlier proposal for a Sony-badged vehicle rather than a forthcoming concept vehicle from the brand. ( Update: A Sony spokesperson confirms the vehicle in the video is a "design mock up. ") Nevertheless, its presence at the Magna Steyr plant in Graz, Austria, makes us wonder if we'll soon see the crossover in the light of day.
Expect a Sony crossover to combine a wagonlike body style with many of the Vision-S sedan's key technology features, including its electric powertrain, numerous sensors, lidar system, massive dashboard display, and more.
