Have the students create a
storyboard as a planning
technique. From there, have
them write a narrative based
off of the storyboard. As an
additional project, have
them create a media
presentation that would go
along with that. Have the
students share their papers
and presentations with a
small group to receive
feedback.
(CCSS: W.5.3)
For students who need
more of a challenge, have
them begin the video project
a head of time to provide
examples and assistance to
other students in the
classroom. This will
encourage more peer
interactions and guidance.

Reflection:
These are all very different examples about a lesson that could be used in a classroom following the fifth grade standards. I just want to clarify that all of this lessons would be placed on a website or blog
that the students create prior to completing each activity. The idea for this is to allow access to other students work in a variety of settings. Students can receive feedback and critiques as to what they are
working on in addition to giving such to other students. It allows for a more effective collaborative effort on all the projects that can be created. All video presentations would be presented in front of class. I
would use these presentations as a form of evaluating the progress and understanding of these students. If a test follows, there would be a specific selection of questions that are based on the
presentations.
