Name of Endocrine Gland Hormones Specific Function: Al Jhun M. Aberca ' 3/2/18 G12 - Campos

This document lists several endocrine glands and their specific hormones and functions. The pineal gland produces melatonin which regulates circadian rhythms. The pituitary gland, also called the "master gland", controls most other glands by producing many hormones including ACTH, steroid hormones, growth hormone, LH, and TSH. The thyroid gland produces thyroxine and triiodothyronine which regulate metabolism. The thymus produces thymosin which helps develop T cells to fight foreign cells. The adrenal glands produce mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids, and androgens which affect many body processes. The pancreas functions as both an exocrine gland secreting enzymes and an

Endocrine
Gland
Pineal Gland  The major hormone Situated in the middle of the human brain and is the
produced by the major site of the body's melatonin production.
pineal gland is
melatonin.
Pituitary Gland  Adrenocorticotropic Small pea-sized gland that plays a major role in
hormone regulating vital body functions and general
 Steroid hormones wellbeing. It is referred to as the body's 'master
 Growth hormone gland' because it controls the activity of most other
 Luteinising hormone hormone-secreting glands.
 Sex hormone
 Anti-diuretic
hormone
 Melanocyte-
stimulating hormone
 Thyroid stimulating
hormone
Thyroid Gland  Thyroxine Part of the endocrine system and is responsible for
 Thyroid hormones producing and releasing thyroid hormones into the
 Calcitonin bloodstream.
Thymus  Thymosin Receive immature T cells that are produces in the
red bone marrow and train them into functional,
mature T cell that attack only foreign cell.
Adrenal Gland  Mineralocorticoids Small structures attached to the top of each kidney.
 Glucocorticoids The human body has two adrenal glands that
 Adrenal androgenss release chemicals called hormones into the
bloodstream. These hormones affect many parts of
the human body.
Pancreas  Insulin It serves as two glands in one: a digestive exocrine
gland and a hormone-producing endocrine gland.
Functioning as an exocrine gland, the pancreas
excretes enzymes to break down the proteins,
lipids, carbohydrates, and nucleic acids in food.
Functioning as an endocrine gland, the pancreas
secretes the hormones insulin and glucagon to
control blood sugar levels throughout the day.
Testis  Androgenic Two oval-shaped male reproductive glands that
hormone produce sperm and the hormone testosterone.
