Project

This document introduces a new, easy method for solving fraction problems quickly. The method allows adding and subtracting fractions by finding the difference between denominators and adjusting numerators accordingly, rather than using the traditional least common denominator approach. Examples are provided demonstrating how to add fractions by subtracting the difference between denominators from the first numerator and writing the answer over the common denominator. This method avoids complex fraction conversions and calculations.

SUBJECT: ADOPTING EASY METHOD IN FRACTION

AIM: Using this new method we solve FRACTION problems in simple or

easy and fastly.

Why this method

Because now a days all peoples and students wants or do the job fastly. so
they search or go for easy way in all the subjects so I implement this method

DEFINITION:

A fraction is a number that expresses part of a group. fractions are written

in the form a/b where a & b are whole numbers and b is not equal to zero '0'. the number
a is called the numerator and the number b is called the denominator.
ex: 1/2,3/5,6/11

TYPES OF FRACTIONS:

a) PROPER FRACTIONS: in this method numerator is lesser than the

denominator.
ex: 3/7;7/13;11/35;
b) IMPROPER FRACTIONS: in this numerator is greater than the
denominator.
ex: 11/5;23/11;123/24
c) MIXED FRACTIONS: in this method number having a whole number
part and a fractional part.
d) DECIMAL FRACTIONS: Fractions having denominators as
10,100,1000 or any other higher power of ten '10' are called decimal fractions.
ex:2/10;4/100;678/10000
e) VULGAR FRACTIONS: Fractions having denominations as whole
numbers other than any power of 10, are called Vulgar fraction.
ex: 5/31;513/999/259/600
f) SIMPLE FRACTIONS: Fractions having both numerator and
denominator as whole numbers are called simple fractions
ex:4/5;6/95;138/464
g) COMPLEX FRACTIONS: Fractions having either or both the
numerator and denominator as fractions or mixed numbers are called
complex fractions
ex:2/5/3=2*3/5=6/5
2) (3 2/4)
---------
(6 8/10)
h) EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS: Fractions representing the same value
are called equivalent fractions.
Equivalent fractions can be found by multiplying or diving the numerator and
denominator of a fraction by the same non-zero number.
Ex: 3/7 = 3 3 9
-- * -- = ---
7 3 21
2) Ex: 24/36 = 24 ÷ 3 8
--------- ----
36 ÷ 3 12

i) LIKE AND UNLIKE FRACTIONS: Fractions having same

denominators are called like fractions.
Ex: 4/11;6/11;8/11
ii) Fractions having different denominators are called unlike
fractions.
Ex: 3/5;4/7;8/9

FRACTION ADDITION

USUAL METHOD:
3 2
--- + ---
4 5
STEP 1) TAKE L.C.M = 4*5 = 20
DIVIDE 20 BY 4 WE GET 5, MULTIPLY IT WITH 3, AND 20 BY 5 WE GET
4 MULTIPLY IT WIT 2.

STEP 2) 3*5+2*4 15+8 23

----------- = ----------- = ------
20 20 20

MY METHOD THIS IS THE EASIEST METHOD

8 11
--- + ---
13 13

STEP 1) First find the difference of numerator and denominator of Right side
fraction
i.e. 13-11=2
STEP 2) Then subtract that difference i.e.2 with numerator of Left
i.e.8-2=6

Then write the answer = 6

---
13

STEP 3) Always write the answer in mixed fraction form so Consider whole part as
zero(0) and add 1 to it
i.e.0+0+1=1
because both the fractions are not having whole number part, so we put both the side
0 and add to 1 answer will be 1
6
there fore final answer is = 1 ---
13

See one more example:

6 5
--- + ---
7 7

Step 1) 7-5=2
6-2=4
Step 2) 4
---
7
Step 3) 0+0+1=1
4
Answer is 1 ----
7

Example 3:

8 11
22 --- + 14 ---
14 14

In usual method we convert this mixed fraction into simple fraction then add the
fractions but this new method we can do it very quickly using above steps
Step 1) add whole parts 22+14+1=37
Apply step 2 and step3 we get 14-11=3 and 8-3=5
5
There fore answer is = 37 ----
14
7 11
Example 4: 52 ---- + 13 ----
12 12

7 11 12-11=1
= (52+13+1) ----- + ----- 7-1 =6
12 12

6
= 66 ----
12

187 245
Example 4: 212 ------ + 104 ------
256 256

187 245 256-245=11

= (212+104+1) ---- + ----- 187-11 =176
256 256

176
= 317 ------
256

LIKE THIS WE CAN ALSO ADD, SUBTRACT, AND MULTIPLY ALL LIKE
AND UNLIKE FRACTIONS.
