Job description – Associate Engineer Stress

Team: Airframe – Numerical Simulation and DFEM

The Numerical Simulation and DFEM team is a part of the Airframe Stress and Design’ group
under Airframe department and plays a key role in providing solutions through assessment of
structural integrity of aircraft structures/assemblies.
Finite element (FEM) simulations techniques are then used to model aircraft structures to capture
the physics and predict the behavior of metallic or composite structures. This requires
understanding of aircraft structures, materials (Metals and composites) and manufacturing
processes.

Role: To perform analysis of aircraft structures to ensure their integrity in operation.

Job Scope (Core activities)

• To model and analyse major component FEM in support of stress activities.
• DFEM preparation and Connection with GFEM
• Verification and validation of the DFEM models as per Airbus methods
• Perform complete FEA (finite elements analysis), validation of the linear, non-linear
and vulnerability analyses and interpretation of results.

Required Domain Expertise:

• Hand Calculations and Understanding of Aircraft structure
• Learn to model and analyze component FEM in support of stress.
• Understanding of metallic and composite design criteria, Failure theories
• Numerical simulations ( Linear and Non Linear, Static and Dynamic scenarios) of
aircraft structure
• Engineering Mechanics of composite/metallic Materials.
• Exposure to Scripting (PYTHON), FE Solvers is preferable.
• Finite element method / finite element analysis.
• Stress analysis of metallic and composite structures.

Tools: Abaqus, Hypermesh, Patran/Nastran,

Programming language: Python, Fortran (any one preferable)
Soft Skills:
• Teamwork
• Good communication skills
• Willingness to learn new skills, self-development
• Problem-solving orientation
Departments Allowed: Aerospace/Mechanical/ Civil / Manufacturing.
