Auggie’s health issue represent the closest thing to uncomfortable reality that “Wonder”
would care to address. Cinematographer Don Burgess (“Allied”) gives us a picture-postcard
Manhattan, where all the seasons have luster and all the streets are tree-lined filled with nice folks.
If the film strays too far toward shamelessness, it’s in putting a beloved pet in danger as well as
giving us not one but two scenes with that dreaded cliché of uplift, the Standing ovation.

This Movie taught us so many important lessons. Most importantly, accepting people for
who they are, instead of how they look, can make life so much better for everyone. Put yourself in
their shoes. Imagine how it would feel to be them. Another lesson ‘Wonder’ taught us is to be brave.
Of someone brings you down, do something about it. Tell them to stop. Don’t be afraid to stand up
for yourself. I think people bully because they have been bullied themselves and want others to feel
their pain. We wish that we could all be kind and accept each other just the way we are. There
would be no bullying or taunting, no intolerance or ignorance. Instead, there would be more
compassion and empathy, more smiles and laughter. The World will be a better place.

“Wonder” is the kind of movie that should be shown to both young and old life lesson about
how to deal with people who appear to be different. The film carries the wonderful message about
tolerance, acceptance, understanding and respect.

Auggie has been home-schooled all his young life by his Mother. Home-schooling was
necessary because of the physical complications the youngster was born with that required a long
string of surgeries. Auggie still has some facial deformities that often draw negative reactions.

By middle school, the decision is made for Auggie to start attending classes with other
children. He has the support of his Family including the coolest dad on the planet and loving sister
who has largely been an afterthought while all the Family energy has been focused on Auggie.

Auggie needs a lot of support as he faces cruel reactions from many of his classmate and is
ostracized by those who fear that his medical condition is contagious. The brutal and mean
treatment reaches a high degree the worst from bullying possible. The only hope is that Auggie can
win over some classmates. That starts with a jack, who goes from being a fellow student urged by his
mom to be kind to Auggie to understanding the rules of being a true friend.

There were moments in the movie where we laughed, nearly cried, and felt angered for
Auggie, and also felt compassion towards Auggie’s sister and Julian. We have also felt a great dislike
for jack until we watch his side of the story. It is then, that we felt sympathy and pity for the kid.

In short we loved the movie that we watched. It is definitely a movie that touched the very
depths of our soul. We recommend this movie for all ages, because it has a lot of lesson that you
can apply to yourself.
