MULTIPURPOSE HALL
LITERATURE
• A large space mostly centre of the building used as
physical education, dining, plays films, assemblies,
community events, large group instructions, etc.
• PURPOSE

1. MULTIPURPOSE AS A EVENT HALL

• It should be allocated at the center of the building as a
mass gathering space during various events.
• Folding seats are most convienent.

STAGE:
• Demountable stage
• stage height - 0.3mm
• Wing space - at least 2m deep for effective use
2. MULTIPURPOSE AS A SPORT HALL

•Includes sports type with movable equipments

•Should only be lit from above, otherwise can cause glare

•Standard size: 21–24*12*4.5m with a divider

•Area per person: 7.5

APPEARANCE:
•Sports halls can all too easily look just like another factory , that must be
avoid through selection of materials, use of colour and the general design .

STRUCTURE
• Minimum- 4.5m high.
• Flexible use of space with sliding division walls
• Columns can be within, or partly within, external walls or outside the
building envelope. They must never project into the hall.

STORAGE:
• A total of 10 % of the hall floor area is
required as a minimum for sports
equipment.
• Locate storage on the long side of four-
court halls or, where this cannot be
achieved, split stores into two areas where
it can efficiently serve subdivided play Allocation of store rooms

The necessary space for seating ares is calculated as:

Width of seat 0.5m
Overall depth 0.8m of which - seat depth – 0.35m
Circulation- 0.45m
Arrangement of entrances and exits, each rows can compromise:
On each side of a passage
In shallow rising rows 48places
In steeply rising rows 36 places

• The necessary space for standing space is calculated as follows:

• Width of standing space 0.5 m
• Depth of standing space 0.4m

• The formula giving the staircase width necessary

to allow a certain number of spectators to leave the stadium in given time is :
𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬

•Cost of construction 25 lakh.
•Boxers will reach the ring from an underground tunnel
(30.5 feet) inside the players facility centre, walking a
total of 60 steps.
•Roof is at the level of ground and can bear a load of a
40 ton fire tender.

BASEMENT PLAN: It houses air-conditioning plants, hydro

pneumatic water supply system, emergency generating sets, fire fighting
pumps and an underground water tank.
Light and illumination

 60 solar energy lights

Made of Light Emission Diode chip
which consumes minimum energy.
 The 60 Watt of LED lights provides
more illumination than 400 Watt
of sodium vapor lamps.
 Average life time of each LED light
is 50,000 hours and due to their
advanced technology these lights
require very little maintenance as
well
GREEN DESIGN

Use of solar energy
Heat insulation through:
• Walls with gypsum partitions
• Glazing with double insulated glass
• Thermal insulation on roofs and walls
Conservation of water through
• Use of recycled water for flushing and horticulture
• Glazing with double insulated glass
• Dual knob flushing cisterns

CAFETERIA
LITERATURE

Cafe areas should be:

_ Located in or close to the entrance foyer to
enhance the welcoming ambience and to
enable the centre to benefit from customer
secondary spend.
_ Designed to ensure that standards of decor
match successful high street equivalents.
In large centres they can be grouped together
and will include:
• a bar and lounge
• viewing into the hall and other areas.
COMPONENTS
• Seating area – enclosed space
• Seating area – semi-enclosed space
• Kitchen
• Counter area (where you would have the
display of various snacks you would like to
have.)
• A refrigerator (for ice-creams and cold drinks)
• A store room (very important)
• A decorated entrance foyer
• Some natural and artificial plantations to make
the interior space look greener and livelier.
Other factors to be taken into consideration in
design:
• Colour Scheme
• Artificial Lighting
• Natural lighting and ventilation
• Green spaces
• Use of different materials
• Use of different wall finishes to create a
dramatic visual effect

CHANGING PROVISION

Facilities
Segregated changing facilities replaced by changing
‘village’ arrangement, which is based upon separation
of dry and wet footpaths to and from changing
cubicles.
Other arrangements
Toilets should be positioned between lockers and
poolside

PROVISION FOR DISABLED PEOPLE

Wheelchair users may be provided for either in the

changing village or alternatively in rooms around the
pool
Cultural - Sport Complex For Disabled / Experimental Branch
of Architecture

• More than 3 million disabled of natural disasters, accidents and Iran-Iraq war - urban
facilities and other special services.
• The proposed site was 50x100 land and just 30x100 occupation was possible. The
remained area belonged to the municipality -access to the northern part of the site
• just 2 levels can be built underground-locating parking sunder the public park.
• The total number of parking places is 66 including 8 places meant for the disable
persons.
• Constructional solutions:
The bearing construction is made out of site concrete and metal, exterior finishing is
made out of glazed concrete plates. Channel glass is applied for facades glazing
fragments and the lantern lights.
• interiors: concrete surfaces of the bearing constructions, smooth-finish and painterly
plaster, ceramic or plastic panels.
• These
ramps

the roof • functional boxes locate and
which a slip over each other to make

• Some ramps in the northern façade, connect

these functional boxes together, and define
special wheelchair paths that make a dynamic
façade, as well. These ramps are located in a
façade box opposite to interior functions.
SWIMMING POOL
Literature review
• Swimming is an individual or
team sport and activity.
Competitive swimming is one
of the most popular Olympic
sports.
• Pool orientation: north south orientation
• Needs side light –large openings on the side
GENERAL
• Arrangements:
Seating must be oriented to longer side of
pool Swimming
General seating : separate entry and seating VIP pool
tiers placed all around the pool in multilevel
with proper staircase & other services at every
entrance. Tiers free from columns
SEATING
VIP arrangement: separate entry and seating
parallel to pool at some higher point
2 ladder at a distance 23m
One lifeguard chair per 186sq m
TYPES OF POOLS
• Competition pools
 Short-course pools
 Long course pools
• Training pools
• Learner pool
• Diving pools
POOL CAPACITY ANALYSIS

• As a rule of thumb, pool capacity (no. of bathers) =water surface area ÷ 2.

• Changing cubicles, lockers and car parking provision:
 Locker allowance= pool capacity +changing cubicle
 Changing cubicle is based upon a time factor of 5 –10-min occupation per
bather. Changing cubicle= (bathers in the pool + people changing, ready to
enter the pool )÷ 10 min
 Car parking provision = no. of bathers, 3 persons per car average + a
further allowance for staff, disabled, etc.

STRENGTH WEAKNESS

• Schools and colleges near OPPORTUNITY THREAT • Heavy traffic

• Dominant youth age group
• Can stand out as landmark
• Near specially planned zone
( BALKUMARI COLONY,
SANGAM COLONY).
CONCLUSION
• After the construction of sport complex in our site, there will be high
chances of development of basic infrastructures.

• The economic increament occurs after the growth of more commercial areas
due to the proximity of sports complex.

• An agricultural land of bearing capacity 80 -160 KN/M^2 is not suitable for

construction of long span structures. So, foundation footing study should be
done depending on settelment of land that may possibly occur.

• In future, heavy traffic may occur and there will be high risk of accidents on
the main access.i.e. Araniko highway. So, exits and entrances needs to be
properly managed.
