maintain their record.
It will help to reduce time and manpower
There are four modules:-
1) New Policy
2) Payment
3) Agent
4) Customer

2. PROBLEM DEFINITION

The Proposed system is for making easier to managed policy holder

details etc. So this will be developed for managing the Insurance
Management System.

5
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

In existing system procedure is followed where the records are used

to maintain data which is a time taking procedure and require more
manpower and calculating commission, dues, etc. are done manually.

3. NEED OF THE SYSTEM

We know today we are living in a techno savvy world and everything is

now systematic. System is the one if the major system which has got
computerized. In the big city the number of employees are handled. As
the existing system is manual. It has some drawbacks such as time

6
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

consuming, less accuracy, possibility of quick access etc. To overcome

the drawbacks computerization is very essential.
Advantages of computerized system are:-
1) Speed
2) Accuracy
3) Large storage capacity

4. SCOPE OF THE SYSTEM

This system will help people to maintain their records in proper manner.
This system is helpful for all Insurance system to maintain their staff,
agent, management etc. in a proper way
It will reduce time and manpower.

5. FEASIBILITY STUDY AND FACT FINDING

TECHNIQUE

5.1 Feasibility Study:

Technical Feasibility :-
In Technical Feasibility of function, performance and constraints that
many affect the ability to achieve an acceptable system are considered

8
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

Technical Feasibility centers around existing computerized system and

what extends it can support the proposed system. In the proposed system
if networking in required then it will support the system. To improve the
effective and effectiveness the organization may adopt the new
technology will be applied in the proposed system.

Economical Feasibility:-
Economical Feasibility is the most frequently used method of evaluation
of effectiveness of a proposed system. Cost benefits and saving are
determined from proposed system and compared with the cost.
The different types of considers are;

Manpower cost
Hardware cost
Operating cost
1. Manpower cost
My proposed system can be communicated with the department in the current
system so the single person can handle the work of overall system. No extra
manpower is required.

2. Hardware cost
As the detail provided by selection of hardware and software requirement we have
provided the minimum requirement to handle the system. It will not much more
cost as per our manual system.

3. Operating systems

9
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

Commonly we not require much more training to train the operator to the computer
the current system. So obviously it will reduce the operational cost in the form of
training. Within a few period time a normal user can himself strained in the system.

5.2 FACT FINDING TECHNIQUE

1. Observation:

This method is mostly use to visits the organization and observes and
understandable the flow of the documents, working of the existing system,
the users of the system etc. For developing the system we visited some of
the insurance offices and agents .We observed their working procedure in
office and from that we tried to develop our project which is helpful for
Insurance office for their day-to day work.

2. Record view:

10
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

We read some information related to system which is published in the

sources like newspaper, documents, etc. This record view helps to get
valuable information about system.

3. Interview:

This method is used to collect the information that groups or individuals. We

selected some people who are related with system for the interview like
Policy agents etc. From this method we got a help to discuss the problem for
future purposes.

6. HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT

Hardware Requirements:

Processor Intel core i3-4005U CPU @ 1.70GHZ

11. TESTING STRATEGY

1) Black Box Testing

In Black box testing, the structure of the program is not considered test cases
are decided individually on the basis of requirement or specification of the
program and the internal of the program is not considered. We have used black box
testing in which have tested our system individually on the basis of requirement.

2) White Box Testing

White Box Testing where the test cases are based on the actual code of the
program. This testing tells the programmic logic and data structure used in the
program. White box testing focuses specially on the internal knowledge of the
software. White box testing is totally based on the programming knowledge.

We have used white box testing where we have tested our systems programming
logic. We have tested our system for all if structures used on each form.

4) Unit Testing

Unit testing focuses on the smallest unit of the software design. Unit testing
uses the white box testing method and concentrate on testing individual
programming unit.

21
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

12. LIMITATIONS

1) In these we are not maintaining a separate record of each policy.

2) In these we are not giving any additional benefit for customer.

3) Payment is not done by credit card or any other card payments.

4) For the heart patients, cancer patients we are not giving policy

5) Diseases like kidney stone, piles, appendix for this we have 2 year
waiting period

6) We are not giving treatments for Pregnancy, AIDS or HIV

13. FUTURE ENHANCEMENT

22
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

1) In Future we can do payments via cards.

2) We can give additional benefit in policy

3) We can increase policy premium amount to customers who are having more
than two years

4) We can include less policy amount for age 50 to 60 yrs

5) We can add children(currently having no child members) of the family

policy in renewal of policy

6) We can include more treatments and medicine claim for senior citizens

7) We will Include Health card (smart card) to all our customers

14. CONCLUSION

The project “Insurance Management System” is for computerizing the

work done in Insurance office. The software takes care of the
23
INSURANCE MANGEMENT SYSTEM [14-10-2019]

requirements of Insurance offices and are capable to provide easy and

effective storage of information related to customer and policy that
comes in policy agent.
It can generate monthly report, quarterly report, half yearly or yearly
report and that based on customer requirement.
Thus system is a great improvement over the manual system. The
computerization of a system has speed up the process
