Ans: Presentation software is application software which is used to create multimedia presentation in the form of
slide shows. The maximum usage of this software can be seen in the field of entertainment, education,
corporate training sessions, seminars and conferences. Two examples of Presentation software are:
Microsoft PowerPoint, OpenOffice.org Impress.

Ans: A slide is a single page of a presentation created with software such as PowerPoint or OpenOffice.org
Impress. A presentation is composed of several slides. 3. List out all the basic elements of a slide.
3. Explain elements of a Slide.
Ans: Following are the basis elements of a slide
(a) Title: It is the heading of a slide which is used to guide the audience about the content of the slide.
(b) Body Text: It contains the main content of the slide, generally formatted as a bulleted or numbered list.
(c) Background: It is the base of a slide on which various elements like title, image, charts etc. can be
added.
(d) Footer: This is an area at the bottom of the slide used to specify the organization name or slide show
theme.
(e) Date and Time: It is displayed at the bottom of the slide.
(f) Slide Number: It is displayed at the bottom of the slide.

4. What is the function of Slide Layout? Name the different type of slide layout options available with
presentation software.
Ans: Slide layout defines the basic structure of a slide
and arranges your slide content. It provides us
different ways to position our text, images and
other graphic options. Following are the slide
layout options :
(a) Title Slide
(b) Title and Content Slide
(c) Section Header Slide
(d) Two Content Slide
(e) Comparison Slide
(f) Title Only Slide
(g) Blank Slide
(h) Content with Caption Slide
(i) Picture with Caption Slide

5. Discuss the different views of a slide.


Ans: The different views are:
Normal: It is the main editing view, which is used to write and design a presentation. In Normal View, you
can add text, graphics, sound, animation and other effects as well. In this view, you can also have a large
view of an individual slide, notes pane at the bottom, an outline of the slide text (Outline tab), and slides
displayed as thumbnails (Slides tab), all at the same time.
Slide Sorter: It displays a miniature view of all the slides in a presentation. We can easily change the order
of slides, copy or delete slides, add transitions, animation effects and set the timings for slide show.
Notes Page: In this view, we can add notes to a slide. These notes are not visible when the presentation is
shown. They can easily be modified later the step to enter notes in a slide are described
Slide Show: It shows all the slides of a presentation starting either form the first slide or the current slide,
one after another. One slide occupies the entire screen in this view.

6. What are the points that should be kept in mind while designing an effective presentation?
Ans. The points that should be kept in mind while designing an effective presentation are:

2. Minimize facts and figures in slides
3. Use Vibrant colors
4. Use Humor in your presentation

7. What do you mean by slide transition? Explain the steps to apply transition effect on a single slide.
Ans. A slide transition is the visual motion when one slide changes to the next during a presentation, like Roll
down from top or Fly in from left etc.
Steps for slide transition are:
1. Select the slide that you want to modify. Click on the Animation tab.
2. Click on Transition to This Slide group and click on any transition effect under it. Apply to selected
slides section.
3. The current slide will displays a preview of the selected effect.

8. Describe the role of Custom Animation in presentation.


Ans. Custom animations are similar to transitions, but they are applied to an individual element on a single slide
– a title, chart, shape, or individual bullet point. They give motion to text pictures etc. Custom animations
make a presentation lively and impressive. They help in focusing on important points and controlling the
flow of information.
9. Describe the steps to group Shapes in a slide.
Ans. Steps to group and ungroup AutoShapes in a slide are:
1. Insert two or more AutoShapes in the slide.
2. Click on the Selection tool present on the Drawing toolbar and drag around the shapes to be grouped.

10. What is grouping objects in presentation?


Ans: Grouping shapes lets you rotate, flip, resize, or arrange them together, as though they were a single shape
or object. Group shapes, pictures, or other objects. Press and hold Ctrl while you click the shapes, pictures,
or other objects to group.

11. Describe the steps to ungroup Objects in a slide.


Ans: To ungroup objects:
1. Select the object with your mouse.
2. Click the Draw menu.
3. Select Ungroup. A set of handles will appear around each object.

12. How are charts effective in making a presentation?


Ans. Charts in slides are used to present statistical table data in a pictorial representation. This ensures that the
audience can grasp complex data at a glance.

Slide transitions are the looks that take you Custom Animations are the movements you put on

24. What do you understand by Templates?


Ans: The existing slides can be beautified using Templates, which are inbuilt design files for creating a
presentation. Templates i9nclude predesigned layouts, backgrounds, color schemes etc.

25. Define the term Header.


Ans. Headers are those little identifiers that run across the top of the document. Whenever we need to repeat
certain text or graphics on each page, we can use Header. They include information like book or chapter
titles, author name and slide show theme etc. They can also be modified later.

add sound to slide transition.

Ans: Enter key is used to move to the next side and Esc to close the Slide Show.
