Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to the Suleman Dawood School of Business of the Lahore University of


Management Sciences. It is my pleasure to introduce the PhD Management Programme
to you as a prospective candidate who wants to prepare for a life of scholarship
and teaching in an academic institution of higher learning.

The Business School now offers a research based degree, which complements our
flagship MBA Programme and the much sought after Executive MBA Programme.
This is in keeping with the university’s and school’s vision to be renowned as a
research institute of repute in the region.

The need for a PhD in Management has been apparent for some time. The focus
on research and academia all over the country has created a demand for scholars
in the field of management, amongst others. It is to this end that we have designed
our extremely rigorous programme, in synch with international standards.

Programme Structure

The programme has been designed to ensure that doctoral students have the full range of necessary research and teaching
competencies, skills and sufficient knowledge of their subject area. This skill set will assist them in designing and executing

Admission Criteria
The admission process at LUMS is competitive and transparent. Applications are assessed purely on the basis of merit.
The basic requirements for applying to the PhD Programme in Management are as follows:

• A minimum of sixteen years of education resulting in a Masters or Bachelors degree from an HEC recognized

• GMAT/GRE/LMAT (LUMS Management Admission Test)
• Well thought out statement of research purpose
• Interview performance
