Reason for the update 0

An incorrect date (study date, series date and image date) will be registered in the DICOM
header when images are sent to archive or MOD.
The incorrect registered year shows as 1907 instead of 2007 for all images registered
after January 1, 2007.
The problem will be corrected by updating the MEMOSKOP software.

Download the software packages from the intranet

NOTE To download the necessary software packages, you need access

to the MED Intranet.
Download the software packages and prepare them on your ser-
vice PC before visiting the customer.

• Download from the Intranet all the compressed (zipped) software packages listed in the
"Software packages" table.

NOTE The software packages are located in the MED intranet, path:
“Customer Service - For Service - Product Information - SP-Sys-
tems - Downloads - SIREMOBIL Compact L”.

8 Preparation

• Using Windows explorer on the service PC, open the directory “C:\SSW\Memoskop”. If
this directory does not exist, create a ”SSW\Memoskop” directory on the C: drive of
your service PC.
• Copy all the downloaded compressed (zipped) software packages to your service PC
into the directory “C:\SSW\Memoskop”.

Renaming the software package files

NOTE The downloaded software packages are compressed, self-extract-

ing zip files.
To prevent problems with some Intranet security settings that pro-
hibit the storage of executable files, the file name extensions were
renamed to “.ex_”.
After the download, the files need to be renamed to “.exe”.

• Open the "C:\SSW\Memoskop" directory and rename all downloaded software pack-
ages from extension “.ex_” to the extension “.exe”, using WINDOWS explorer on your
service PC. See the “Software packages” table above.

Extracting (unzipping) the self-extracting software packages

• Start each downloaded and renamed software package by double-clicking on the
name, using WINDOWS explorer on your service PC.
! Each software package will be extracted and the included files will be stored in a
separate directory.

NOTE At the customer site, you will need to check and see which
MEMOSKOP software version is installed. Depending on which
software version is installed on the system at the customer site,
one of the newly downloaded MEMOSKOP software versions will
be needed. At each customer site you will need 4 new, formatted,
and blank floppy disks.
The exact work steps are described in the next chapter of this UI.

Work steps
2Update

NOTE The following prerequisites are necessary:

The software packages must be downloaded from the intranet,
saved, and extracted, as described in the previous chapter, in the
“Intranet download preparation” section.
4 formatted, blank 3.5-inch floppy disks are needed at each site.

Service software installation 0

Creation of the service software floppy disks

NOTE The 3.5-inch floppy disk drive is needed. If applicable, connect the
external floppy disk drive to the service PC.

• Boot up the service PC and start Windows Explorer.

• Switch off the write protection on the 4 new, formatted, and blank floppy disks.
• Insert one 3.5-inch floppy disk into the floppy disk drive of the service PC.
• Start Windows Explorer and open the directory:
C:\SSW\Memoskop\Memoskop-Service-VB00A\Disk#1
• Copy all the files in this directory to the floppy disk.
• Remove the floppy disk from the drive. Label the floppy disk as:
“Memoskop service program VB00A, Setup, Disk#1+”
• Insert the next 3.5-inch floppy disk into the floppy disk drive of the service PC.
• Open the directory:
C:\SSW\Memoskop\Memoskop-Service-VB00A\Disk#2
• Copy all the files in this directory to the floppy disk.
• Remove the floppy disk from the drive. Label the floppy disk as:
“Memoskop service program VB00A, Disk#2+”

Installation of the Memoskop service program

NOTE The service program is useable for all Memoskop types subject to
this software update.

• Insert the “Memoskop service program VB00A, Setup, Disk#1+” into the floppy disk
drive A.
• Start the setup.exe program, enter the password (see password list SP) and follow the
workflow of the installation program.

Medical Solutions 01.07 CS PS SP
10 Update

NOTE The service program can also be installed from a separate direc-
tory on the service PC hard drive.
Use Windows Explorer. Copy all the files from the two floppy
disks, “Memoskop service program VB00A, Setup, Disk#1+” and
“Memoskop Service Program VB00A, Disk#2+”, to a newly created
directory. Change to the newly created directory and start the file
“Setup.exe” by double-clicking it.

Identifying the current Memoskop software version 0

• Connect the monitor trolley to the basic unit.

• Switch on the system and wait until it has finished the boot-up phase.
• At the Memoskop keyboard, open the user setup by pressing the “CTRL” and “U” key
simultaneously.
! The currently installed software version (e.g. ...”3VB01E0”...) is indicated in the
user setup, on the first image screen, in the second line.

Identifying the required software package for the Memoskop download 0

• Use the “Software package checklist” table to identify the software package needed.
Look in the first column to find the Memoskop software version currently installed on the
system to be updated.
• Read and note the name of the “Directory, including the new Memoskop software
file(s)” in the second column and the “New Software Version String” in the third column
of the same row.

Prerequisites for the service PC settings

NOTE If errors occur during the Memoskop download (e.g. service PC -

Memoskop communication error) observe these prerequisites.

Please observe the following points before starting the software update:
! The serial cable used must be properly connected and fully functional.
! The screensaver and all programs running in the background should be deacti-
vated on the service PC.
! Check the D1.X95 / D1.X96 / D1.X99 jumpers. They should be in position 2-3.
! Check the settings of the serial interface used on your service PC. Activate the
FIFO settings (default settings).
! In the case of correct communication with the host, but faulty communication
with the Memoskop, temporarily set switch D1.S3.2 to the ON position. After
restarting the service program, ignore the error message “No communication
with the X-ray system” and press the “ignore” button. Then select the installed
Memoskop type and start the necessary service work for the Memoskop. After
completing the Memoskop service work steps, set the switch D1.S3.2 back to
the OFF position.

Informing the customer 0

Please inform the customer that:

Patient images, transferred to a MOD media or DICOM node (archive, workstation) after
this successful software update:
! After this software update, the images stored and transferred in DICOM format
will include the correct date in the DICOM header information.
This is also the case for patient images stored between January 1, 2007 and the
successful software update, if these are still stored and present on the hard drive
of the Memoskop and transferred to a MOD media or a DICOM node after the
software update.
Patient images transferred to a MOD media or a DICOM node (archive, workstation)
between January 1, 2007 and this software update:
! All patient images stored between January 1, 2007 and the successful software
update that were transferred to the internal MOD drive, or to a DICOM node, will
still include the incorrect date in the DICOM header. Instead of the year “2007”
the year “1907” will have been stored.
! If patient images need to be searched on the MOD media, in the DICOM archive
or other DICOM nodes, the year should not be used as a search criterion; if a
search according to year is nevertheless desired, please check for data entries
with “dd.mm.1907” (use the date format as configured at the local DICOM node,
e.g. UK: mm-dd-1907, US: mm/dd/1907).
! Patient images saved to a MOD medium or a DICOM node that include the
wrong study date, series date and image date in the DICOM header, will not be
corrected by restoring these from a MOD medium or DICOM node to the
Memoskop!
