History of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving history begins when the first gathering among the
pilgrims and the Indians, took place in 1621. This was also regarded as
a Harvest festival. Following a harsh winter in 1620, followed by a
drought, so much praying was done for rain, and so they got it. The first
thanksgiving foods included turkey, giblets, gravy, mashed potatoes,
lettuce, turnip & pea. Pheasants and swans were also offered and
ironically, no one wanted the turkey wishbone at that time, but the kids
all fought over the swan's neck. Thanksgiving, was an autumn harvest
festival and was a time of feasting, dancing, drinking and merriment

George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving

Proclamation
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the
providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful
for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and
favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their
joint committee, requested me to "recommend to the people
of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed
by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of
Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to
establish a form of government for their safety and happiness: "Now,
therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November
next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and
glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or
that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and
humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country
previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and
the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of
the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we
have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have
been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and
happiness,

and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and
religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of
acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and
various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.And also that we
may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the
great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and
other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to
perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our
National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a
Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully
executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations
(especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good
governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of
true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and,
generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as
He alone knows to be best.

Not a small subject by any means. Love is such a broad topic that, in ancient
times, the Greeks had four words for love. Love can be romantic, sexual
sharing, friendship, family, and in some cases it is unconditional.

Scientists now know that all things are energy and the speed of vibration
varies. Slower vibrating things appear more solid; for example, a rock appears
more solid than air. Love and other emotions also have vibrations from low
and constricted to high and expansive.

Negative emotions like depression or hatred vibrate at a lower frequency,

while positive emotions such as peace or joy vibrate at a higher, more
expansive rate. In 2002 Dr. David Hawkins published a book called Power vs.
Force. In it he created the Scale of Consciousness wherein he ranked
emotions and gave them a corresponding number, from 1 to 1000. Love was
ranked at 500. Dr. Hawkins defines this as a 'threshold number' leading to the
higher vibrations beyond.

The higher the vibration the more expansive the emotion, and the more
powerful a tool it becomes. The love I refer to comes from the Universal
Cosmic Energy that is a part of all of us. It is easily accessed by anyone and can
be used to boost healing, abundance and any positive spell.

In later articles we will discuss ways and methods to use this powerful
implement.
Moon in November
November brings to us the Full Beaver Moon, on the 10th Traditionally
this was a time when hunters would lay beaver traps for the fur in
preparation for winter. It is also mentioned this is a time when beavers
are preparing for winter themselves.

Expectations and Assumptions

Belief is 'an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists' without
having experienced or seen it directly. Religion and other social institutions -
education, politics, the media - encourage a variety of beliefs, many that must be taken
on blind faith, which is often endorsed as a 'virtue'. Most of us are able to adjust our
thinking when a belief fails in the face of reality, but under some circumstances such an
adjustment can be quite difficult.

A number of folks I've spoken with over the years have shared that some of the largest
obstacles they've encountered along their paths toward spiritual awareness arise
because their experiences of spiritual reality seem to be in conflict with their beliefs
(mostly of a religious nature). That was my struggle too when I was younger, and for
many years I simply did not have the mental wherewithal to deal with it -- so much
easier just to turn my back on it all. I think spiritual beliefs are harder to adjust than,
say, assumptions about mundane reality (oh it's not aerodynamically impossible for
bumblebees to fly? *shrug* go figure), and I think the reason is because of the extreme
value placed on faith. Many religious teachings are presented in a way that suggests
it's actually wrong to question them. Having learned to value and even cherish the
trusting nature of one's relationship with God (or Allah or Source, etc), a whole mess of
guilt can ride in on any questions that challenge any aspect of one's faith.

When I was finally ready to explore my path, I found it helpful - no, necessary - to set
aside all my prior beliefs as I began a meditative practice and entered my spiritual
space. Given the many conflicting descriptions of spiritual reality, I figured if any of
those descriptions were true, then they would be confirmed as I encountered them in
spiritual reality. I also felt that if I entered spiritual space with expectations regarding
what I would find there, my expectations could seriously skew the experience. I might
try to make the experience fit my beliefs rather than simply experience what I found.

Now that I've been on my path a while, occasionally I find that at some point I
misinterpreted an experience, then drew conclusions from it, and - surprise! - I'm
suddenly encountering an experience that is in conflict with my own beliefs. But that's
not too hard; it just surprises me (what? I was wrong???). It's a lot easier to set aside
my own erroneous conclusions than it ever was to set aside the teachings of, say the
church.

My point is not in any way intended as a criticism of religion. These articles are aimed
toward those who seek clarity as they explore spiritual reality. Setting aside all beliefs
- including the ones that really make sense - is not about throwing anything away; it's
about taking the opportunity to discern and experience what is real. This is a simple
philosophy, that if one's beliefs are based in reality, one should find their confirmation
in the course of exploring spiritual reality oneself.

I wake up in the morning in my bed, a simple mattress and box-spring set, and I walk
through the rooms of my home, which is a small, cluttered house constructed from
man-made materials; I interact with my beloved and our cat companions, and we all
live in a neighborhood of similar homes, each yard with its own trees and various
forms of landscaping. Somewhere in the jungles of South America there's a woman who
wakes up in the morning in her bed, animal hides piled atop straw, and she walks out
the door of her one room dwelling, which is a tiny structure made of materials she has
gathered from the surrounding jungle; she interacts with her loved ones, and they all
live in an encampment surrounded by dense forest. Between the two of us, our
descriptions of physical reality are - quite obviously - very, very different. I would be
wrong to assume that this woman needs anything from me; for instance, it would be
wrong to assume, because I myself wear shoes, that her lack of shoes is a problem for
her. If she did need help and by some odd occurrence I was able to help her, I would be
wrong to assume anything about her life or situation or that I could anticipate what it
was that she actually needed. She could teach me a lot about her life and surroundings,
and unless I could pack her up and take her home with me it would be nearly
impossible for me to explain my life to her... and pretty presumptuous for me to assume
she needed to know anything about me anyway.
So why would I assume the spiritual reality that surrounds me is anything like the
spiritual reality surrounding anyone else, or that it is my job to define spiritual reality
for others on the basis of what I perceive?

It's been enormously helpful to me in terms of expanding my awareness to listen and

read about the experiences of others who are also spiritually aware. Sometimes we find
similarities in our experiences, but we also often find vast differences. I think it would
be wrong to assume that the differences are an indication that any one of us is more
accurate than the others; we're just perceiving our individual surroundings. For me to
describe spiritual reality in a way that was meant to define it for someone else would
be akin to informing someone on another continent that the walls of their home are
white or that the weather that day for them was cloudy. While they might indeed have
white walls and cloudy skies, it's not because I do. And if in fact they tell me their
walls are wood paneling and the sky is clear, it would make no sense for me to insist
otherwise.

All of that is simply my way of encouraging folks to explore spiritual reality for
themselves, to share what they find, and to accept that it's ok when other people find
something different.

The Beginning of our Story

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there was a group of 13
Witches...not just any Witch's...special Witches. Oh yeah...and a toad.

The Toad desperately wanted to become a Wizard, but needed one of the
Witches to use her powerful magick on him to complete his transformation.

The first Witch, Queenoftheflyingmonkey's, attempted her spell on the

Toad. She mixed a cauldron full of magical ingredients such as Lizard livers,
cats claws, the sweat from a bald headed man's head, toe jam scrapped from a
cow's hooves, and a pubic hair from Weird Al Yankovic.

She simmered it slowly and when it was ready, chanted her magical
words..."ishie wishie, boto, ewa".....then, quickly told the toad to drink
some.........

Much to his surprise, not only did it not work, but now.....he has long curly
hair and is craving marshmellows.

The next Witch was up..and gave it a try...

Ok..this is where someone else comes in to keep the story going...go to the
comment section and have fun!!

Hmm Well said the next Witch, who was a bitty ol Crone, Hmmm,

Why is the Toad wanting to become something he already is within himself,

I can not do this, as their are lessons this toad must learn.....

Toad the old Crone asked, do you not understand it does not matter if you are
large or small, human or animal, magick is within you, but you must believe in
yourself and your magick for it to be a success?

For a moment all was silence, and the Toad thought, and replied........

Reply by Alayna on Tuesday…

The Toad then replied "wassup wit dat? I mean, I know I have the power
within me, but I freakin toad man! No one wants to hang out with a toad...u
know..that whole stupid fear of warts and all. I want to LOOK the part..like a
magical man from long ago, so that all who look at me, will respect and honor
me and all that I know". With a smug little smirk on his face he thought
longer, then replied "I want to look like the famous Wizard..what's his
name?????......Merlin! Yah, that's the dude, Merlin...I want to look and BE just
like him, cause if I don't, I'm just going to end up in some Witch's brew"

Upon hearing the frogs lament, the third witch, armed with a mojo bag, matted
hair and boobs down to her knees, went nose to nose with the poor little toad
and said....

Well said the Crone, time for a journey for you, see the path, go down it.
You must learn self love, self confidence, when you do, you will see
others come to you naturally. You as a toad also play a role on earth as
the others. small does not mean least either. It is up to you my friend,

"Merlin to look like want you?" said the third witch. She was a little
backwards afterall. "Him to look like help you I will.". She was a very
handy witch. She set the toad on a stump. She shook her mojo bag over
him. She rubbed a salve that smelled of stinky feet on the toad. She
poured a dark red potion over him that smelled (and tasted the toad had
to admit) like red wine.

"Is that red wine?" inquired the toad.

"Questions you will ask me not!" said the witch. The toad sat patiently
expecting to grow taller, raise up higher, something. Finally the third
witch said, "Eyes close yours.". The toad obeyed, and the witch shook
something that sounded like a human child's rattle over his head. The
witch mumbled something then...

The third witch's eye started twitching, her lips curled into a smile. She
shook her mojo bag, stuck her finger into her mouth, pulled it out, and
held it in the air as if testing for wind. She narrowed her eyes wiggled
her booty, and the spell she cast sounded like the belly jelly song. She
bounced around in one spot, turned around in a circle then: she farted
at the crone.

>___< Grrrrr the Crone groaned. Hmm She thought, I see I need to teach
this Witchy a lil lesson...
The weather was perfect for what the Crone intended, it seemed as
though nature agreed with what She willed to do.
In her Cave , which was very deep, and dark, except for a few candles,
and the huge cauldron. Near by was Her dragon, named Black. Black
noticed the Crone was not happy, and asked her what is the matter. Oh
my Black, I need to teach this Witchy a lesson indeed. Black replied,
why, what did she do now? The damn Witch farted at me , can
you believe this. Black then showed the Crone a specialty spell. also
known as the Unending forevery sticky farting gas spell.
The Crone gathered all ingredients...
Pinch of poo, Pinch well a bowl full of hot peppers and hot source and
everything to give one indigestion,
Rats butt, frog penis, and all things nasty...
hocus pocus round round 13 times round
magick potion magick cussing
then the Crone tappered it off by farting over the brew
Hail all , hear me now, I summon now winds of the air come now
deliver this spell with cussing I make it, let the third Witch now be full of
gas, farts never ending , wherever she goes
whenever she walks fart fart fart may now she be known as lady gas

As I will so now mote it be!!!!!!

And so it was......cackles....
Poor third Witch. what now will she do, or learn.

The third witch went home to make her and her ferret dinner. She
waddled home, and started farting, she took some gas herbs and they
stopped, for a while. She made it home with a little more gas than
usual. But it may have been another farty day. She shrugged and went
inside her home. A cave very similar to the Crone's but with more
candles and a ferret in place of a dragon. The third witch gathered the
things for dinner. Thinking about the first witch who got left with the 50
foot frog. "What to do, what to do."

"About what?" as the third witch's gas had a foul odor, even to a ferret
who was low to the ground. "Your gas or something else? Really, my
dear it's getting as bad as your cousin Mae's handfasting!". Cousin Mae
had served broccoli, beans, tacos, cabbage rolls, and a few other fart
inducing foods.

"Funny are you!" the third witch had noticed that with every step she
took she farted more. And it was getting a little noxious. She quick
whipped up her old stand by, the west wind spell to get her farts out. It
seemed to work for a little bit, then the farts got worse! Heffalump, the
ferret, had gotten out a nose clip to stop from smelling the
farts. Heffalump ate his chicken and then ran straight for the couch! No
stops for chocolate or peanutbutter! This was worse than cousin Mae's
handfasting. Before slipping under the couch for the night, Heffalump
remarked, "You have GOT to stop eating the fart foods!" The third witch
smirked at Heffalump's rear as he disappeared under the couch. The
third witch eventually went to bed to go to sleep, and farting the entire
time. It was getting annoying. By morning, all of the third witch's plants
had wilted from all of her Methane. There was something wrong. The
third witch whipped up a potion for her farts. That seemed to make
them worse. Then she knew the Crone had done something to her. But
stubbornness kept her from going to the Crone. Heffalump only came
out to eat, and was not in a good mood. Two days later Heffalump had it
and went to the Crone to plead with her

"lordy women, do you have any stinkin idea what you've done!" quiped
Heffalump. "There's just no living with stinky pants anymore"! The
Crone shot back with a sinister smirk that stretched across the deeply
imbedded wrinkles on her face; her eyes grew narrow and dark, and the
one tooth she had left in her head wobbled to and fro like a sheet in a
wind storm. She stared at the furry little critter and bellowed..."bring me
the witch of the fourth count", and with her, send a bottle of the
delightful methane that is bottled up in Witch # 3". "what do u want
with the gas" asked Heffalump? Silence! "enough of this babble." "You
have until the stroke of midnight to see this mission complete, or you my
little friend will wind up a toad yourself". With this, Heffalump, ran as
fast he his four little legs could carry him until he found the forth
Witch. She was sitting beside a book of magical spells, her eyes closed
and her voice chanting these words..........

Merlin would not give up his power for this unrecognizable toad, Merlin

Heffalump the ferret told the fourth witch what was going on., from the
beginning. The frog wanting to be Merlin, the third witch farting at the

have her, the fourth witch to get a bottle of the third witch's fart. "Please!

Heffalump went to the fourth witch, who was feeding the frog
marshmallows. "You know ya dumb frog," Heffalump grunted as he
pulled himself up on to a stump, "this is all your fault."

"My fault?!?" Exclaimed the frog...er tree as he hiccupped, "how in the

moon's hiney is your problem my fault?"

"If you had been satisfied with who you were like the Crone said,
Happyhorsebottom wouldn't have tried to help you and made you so
large angering the Crone! Then Happyhorsebottom wouldn't have
insulted the Crone and her farts wouldn't be stinking me out of my nice
cozy blankets and away from the yummy peanutbutter and lovely
chocolate!"

Dark Goddess for November ~

SunKat-( In The Dark )

In the Ennead of Egyptian mythology, Nut (alternatively spelled Nuit,

Newet, and Neuth) was the goddess of the sky

Her name is translated to mean 'sky'and she is considered one of the

oldest deities among the Egyptian pantheon, with her origins being found
on the creation story of Heliopolis. She was originally the goddess of the
nighttime sky, but eventually became referred to as simply the sky
goddess. Her headdress was the hieroglyphic of part of her name, a pot,
which may also symbolize the uterus. Mostly depicted in human form,
Nut was also sometimes depicted in the form of a cow whose great body
formed the sky and heavens, a sycamore tree, or as a giant sow, suckling
many piglets (representing the stars).

Origins

A sacred symbol of Nut was the ladder, used by Osiris to enter her
heavenly skies. This ladder-symbol was called maqet and was placed in
tombs to protect the deceased, and to invoke the aid of the deity of the
dead. Nut is considered an enigma in the world of mythology because she
is direct contrast to most other mythologies, which usually evolve into a
sky father associated with an earth mother or Mother Nature.

She was married to Geb, the earth god.

She appears in the creation myth of Heliopolis which involves several
goddesses who play important roles: Tefnut (Tefenet) is a personification
of moisture, who mated with Shu (Air) and then gave birth to Sky as the
goddess Nut, who mated with her brother Earth, as Geb. From the union
of Geb and Nut came, among others, the most popular of Egyptian
goddesses, Isis, the mother of Horus, whose story is central to that of her
brother-husband, the resurrection god Osiris. Osiris is killed by his
brother Set and scattered over the Earth in 14 pieces which Isis gathers
up and puts back together. Osiris then climbs a ladder into his mother
Nut for safety and eventually becomes king of the dead. A huge cult
developed about Osiris that lasted well into Roman times. Isis was her
husband's queen in the underworld and the theological basis for the role
of the queen on earth. It can be said that she was a version of the great
goddess Hathor. Like Hathor she not only had death and rebirth
associations, but was the protector of children and the goddess of
childbirth.

Some of the titles of Nut were:

- Coverer of the Sky: Nut was said to be covered in stars touching the
different points of her body.

- She Who Protects: Among her jobs was to envelop and protect Ra, the
sun god.

- Mistress of All or "She who Bore the Gods": Originally, Nut was said to
be laying on top of Geb (Earth) and continually having intercourse.
During this time she birthed four children: Osiris, Isis, Set, and
Nephthys. A fifth child named Arueris is mentioned by Plutarch. He was
the Egyptian counterpart to the Greek god Apollo, who was made
syncretic with Horus in the Hellenistic era as 'Horus the Elder'. The
Ptolemaic temple of Edfu is dedicated to Horus the Elder and there he is
called the son of Nut and Geb, brother of Osiris, and eldest son of Geb.

- She Who Holds a Thousand Souls: Because of her role in the re-
birthing of Ra every morning and in her son Osiris's resurrection, Nut
became a key god in many of the myths about the after-life.

Role

Nut was the goddess of the sky and all heavenly bodies, a symbol of
protecting the dead when they enter the after life. According to the
Egyptians, during the day, the heavenly bodies—such as the sun and
moon—would make their way across her body. Then, at dusk, they would
be swallowed, pass through her belly during the night, and be reborn at
dawn.

Nut is also the barrier separating the forces of chaos from the ordered
cosmos in the world. She was pictured as a woman arched on her toes
and fingertips over the earth; her body portrayed as a star-filled sky.
Nut’s fingers and toes were believed to touch the four cardinal points or
directions of north, south, east, and west. Because of her role in saving
Osiris, Nut was seen as a friend and protector of the dead, who appealed
to her as a child appeals to its mother: “O my Mother Nut, stretch
Yourself over me, that I may be placed among the imperishable stars
which are in You, and that I may not die.” Nut was thought to draw the
dead into her star-filled sky, and refresh them with food and wine: “I am
Nut, and I have come so that I may enfold and protect you from all things
evil.” She was often painted on the inside lid of the sarcophagus,
protecting the deceased. The vault of tombs often were painted dark blue
with many stars as a representation of Nut. The Book of the Dead says,
“Hail, thou Sycamore Tree of the Goddess Nut! Give me of the water and
of the air which is in thee. I embrace that throne which is in Unu, and I
keep guard over the Egg of Nekek-ur. It flourisheth, and I flourish; it
liveth, and I live; it snuffeth the air, and I snuff the air, I the Osiris Ani,
whose word is truth, in peace.
