and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and
religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of
acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and
various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.And also that we
may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the
great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and
other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to
perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our
National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a
Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully
executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations
(especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good
governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of
true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and,
generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as
He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D.
1789.
I know as I sit with mom for Turkey day, I may not have much, but have much
to be grateful for. I am rich in other ways. It is not about what you have, but
relationships and quality of your life. May we all carry the spirit of
Thanksgiving throughout the year, and not just once or twice a year
Love

Not a small subject by any means. Love is such a broad topic that, in ancient
times, the Greeks had four words for love. Love can be romantic, sexual
sharing, friendship, family, and in some cases it is unconditional.
Scientists now know that all things are energy and the speed of vibration
varies. Slower vibrating things appear more solid; for example, a rock appears
more solid than air. Love and other emotions also have vibrations from low
and constricted to high and expansive.
The higher the vibration the more expansive the emotion, and the more
powerful a tool it becomes. The love I refer to comes from the Universal
Cosmic Energy that is a part of all of us. It is easily accessed by anyone and can
be used to boost healing, abundance and any positive spell.
In later articles we will discuss ways and methods to use this powerful
implement.
Moon in November
November brings to us the Full Beaver Moon, on the 10th Traditionally
this was a time when hunters would lay beaver traps for the fur in
preparation for winter. It is also mentioned this is a time when beavers
are preparing for winter themselves.

Mindfulness and Spiritual Awareness
A series by pluralone
Belief is 'an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists' without
having experienced or seen it directly. Religion and other social institutions -
education, politics, the media - encourage a variety of beliefs, many that must be taken
on blind faith, which is often endorsed as a 'virtue'. Most of us are able to adjust our
thinking when a belief fails in the face of reality, but under some circumstances such an
adjustment can be quite difficult.
A number of folks I've spoken with over the years have shared that some of the largest
obstacles they've encountered along their paths toward spiritual awareness arise
because their experiences of spiritual reality seem to be in conflict with their beliefs
(mostly of a religious nature). That was my struggle too when I was younger, and for
many years I simply did not have the mental wherewithal to deal with it -- so much
easier just to turn my back on it all. I think spiritual beliefs are harder to adjust than,
say, assumptions about mundane reality (oh it's not aerodynamically impossible for
bumblebees to fly? *shrug* go figure), and I think the reason is because of the extreme
value placed on faith. Many religious teachings are presented in a way that suggests
it's actually wrong to question them. Having learned to value and even cherish the
trusting nature of one's relationship with God (or Allah or Source, etc), a whole mess of
guilt can ride in on any questions that challenge any aspect of one's faith.
When I was finally ready to explore my path, I found it helpful - no, necessary - to set
aside all my prior beliefs as I began a meditative practice and entered my spiritual
space. Given the many conflicting descriptions of spiritual reality, I figured if any of
those descriptions were true, then they would be confirmed as I encountered them in
spiritual reality. I also felt that if I entered spiritual space with expectations regarding
what I would find there, my expectations could seriously skew the experience. I might
try to make the experience fit my beliefs rather than simply experience what I found.
Now that I've been on my path a while, occasionally I find that at some point I
misinterpreted an experience, then drew conclusions from it, and - surprise! - I'm
suddenly encountering an experience that is in conflict with my own beliefs. But that's
not too hard; it just surprises me (what? I was wrong???). It's a lot easier to set aside
my own erroneous conclusions than it ever was to set aside the teachings of, say the
church.
My point is not in any way intended as a criticism of religion. These articles are aimed
toward those who seek clarity as they explore spiritual reality. Setting aside all beliefs
- including the ones that really make sense - is not about throwing anything away; it's
about taking the opportunity to discern and experience what is real. This is a simple
philosophy, that if one's beliefs are based in reality, one should find their confirmation
in the course of exploring spiritual reality oneself.
I wake up in the morning in my bed, a simple mattress and box-spring set, and I walk
through the rooms of my home, which is a small, cluttered house constructed from
man-made materials; I interact with my beloved and our cat companions, and we all
live in a neighborhood of similar homes, each yard with its own trees and various
forms of landscaping. Somewhere in the jungles of South America there's a woman who
wakes up in the morning in her bed, animal hides piled atop straw, and she walks out
the door of her one room dwelling, which is a tiny structure made of materials she has
gathered from the surrounding jungle; she interacts with her loved ones, and they all
live in an encampment surrounded by dense forest. Between the two of us, our
descriptions of physical reality are - quite obviously - very, very different. I would be
wrong to assume that this woman needs anything from me; for instance, it would be
wrong to assume, because I myself wear shoes, that her lack of shoes is a problem for
her. If she did need help and by some odd occurrence I was able to help her, I would be
wrong to assume anything about her life or situation or that I could anticipate what it
was that she actually needed. She could teach me a lot about her life and surroundings,
and unless I could pack her up and take her home with me it would be nearly
impossible for me to explain my life to her... and pretty presumptuous for me to assume
she needed to know anything about me anyway.
So why would I assume the spiritual reality that surrounds me is anything like the
spiritual reality surrounding anyone else, or that it is my job to define spiritual reality
for others on the basis of what I perceive?
All of that is simply my way of encouraging folks to explore spiritual reality for
themselves, to share what they find, and to accept that it's ok when other people find
something different.

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, there was a group of 13
Witches...not just any Witch's...special Witches. Oh yeah...and a toad.
The Toad desperately wanted to become a Wizard, but needed one of the
Witches to use her powerful magick on him to complete his transformation.
She simmered it slowly and when it was ready, chanted her magical
words..."ishie wishie, boto, ewa".....then, quickly told the toad to drink
some.........
Much to his surprise, not only did it not work, but now.....he has long curly
hair and is craving marshmellows.
Ok..this is where someone else comes in to keep the story going...go to the
comment section and have fun!!
Hmm Well said the next Witch, who was a bitty ol Crone, Hmmm,
Toad the old Crone asked, do you not understand it does not matter if you are
large or small, human or animal, magick is within you, but you must believe in
yourself and your magick for it to be a success?
For a moment all was silence, and the Toad thought, and replied........
The Toad then replied "wassup wit dat? I mean, I know I have the power
within me, but I freakin toad man! No one wants to hang out with a toad...u
know..that whole stupid fear of warts and all. I want to LOOK the part..like a
magical man from long ago, so that all who look at me, will respect and honor
me and all that I know". With a smug little smirk on his face he thought
longer, then replied "I want to look like the famous Wizard..what's his
name?????......Merlin! Yah, that's the dude, Merlin...I want to look and BE just
like him, cause if I don't, I'm just going to end up in some Witch's brew"
Upon hearing the frogs lament, the third witch, armed with a mojo bag, matted
hair and boobs down to her knees, went nose to nose with the poor little toad
and said....
"Questions you will ask me not!" said the witch. The toad sat patiently
expecting to grow taller, raise up higher, something. Finally the third
witch said, "Eyes close yours.". The toad obeyed, and the witch shook
something that sounded like a human child's rattle over his head. The
witch mumbled something then...
And so it was......cackles....
Poor third Witch. what now will she do, or learn.

The third witch went home to make her and her ferret dinner. She
waddled home, and started farting, she took some gas herbs and they
stopped, for a while. She made it home with a little more gas than
usual. But it may have been another farty day. She shrugged and went
inside her home. A cave very similar to the Crone's but with more
candles and a ferret in place of a dragon. The third witch gathered the
things for dinner. Thinking about the first witch who got left with the 50
foot frog. "What to do, what to do."
"About what?" as the third witch's gas had a foul odor, even to a ferret
who was low to the ground. "Your gas or something else? Really, my
dear it's getting as bad as your cousin Mae's handfasting!". Cousin Mae
had served broccoli, beans, tacos, cabbage rolls, and a few other fart
inducing foods.
"Funny are you!" the third witch had noticed that with every step she
took she farted more. And it was getting a little noxious. She quick
whipped up her old stand by, the west wind spell to get her farts out. It
seemed to work for a little bit, then the farts got worse! Heffalump, the
ferret, had gotten out a nose clip to stop from smelling the
farts. Heffalump ate his chicken and then ran straight for the couch! No
stops for chocolate or peanutbutter! This was worse than cousin Mae's
handfasting. Before slipping under the couch for the night, Heffalump
remarked, "You have GOT to stop eating the fart foods!" The third witch
smirked at Heffalump's rear as he disappeared under the couch. The
third witch eventually went to bed to go to sleep, and farting the entire
time. It was getting annoying. By morning, all of the third witch's plants
had wilted from all of her Methane. There was something wrong. The
third witch whipped up a potion for her farts. That seemed to make
them worse. Then she knew the Crone had done something to her. But
stubbornness kept her from going to the Crone. Heffalump only came
out to eat, and was not in a good mood. Two days later Heffalump had it
and went to the Crone to plead with her
"If you had been satisfied with who you were like the Crone said,
Happyhorsebottom wouldn't have tried to help you and made you so
large angering the Crone! Then Happyhorsebottom wouldn't have
insulted the Crone and her farts wouldn't be stinking me out of my nice
cozy blankets and away from the yummy peanutbutter and lovely
chocolate!"
Origins
A sacred symbol of Nut was the ladder, used by Osiris to enter her
heavenly skies. This ladder-symbol was called maqet and was placed in
tombs to protect the deceased, and to invoke the aid of the deity of the
dead. Nut is considered an enigma in the world of mythology because she
is direct contrast to most other mythologies, which usually evolve into a
sky father associated with an earth mother or Mother Nature.
- Coverer of the Sky: Nut was said to be covered in stars touching the
different points of her body.
- She Who Protects: Among her jobs was to envelop and protect Ra, the
sun god.
- Mistress of All or "She who Bore the Gods": Originally, Nut was said to
be laying on top of Geb (Earth) and continually having intercourse.
During this time she birthed four children: Osiris, Isis, Set, and
Nephthys. A fifth child named Arueris is mentioned by Plutarch. He was
the Egyptian counterpart to the Greek god Apollo, who was made
syncretic with Horus in the Hellenistic era as 'Horus the Elder'. The
Ptolemaic temple of Edfu is dedicated to Horus the Elder and there he is
called the son of Nut and Geb, brother of Osiris, and eldest son of Geb.
- She Who Holds a Thousand Souls: Because of her role in the re-
birthing of Ra every morning and in her son Osiris's resurrection, Nut
became a key god in many of the myths about the after-life.
Role
Nut was the goddess of the sky and all heavenly bodies, a symbol of
protecting the dead when they enter the after life. According to the
Egyptians, during the day, the heavenly bodies—such as the sun and
moon—would make their way across her body. Then, at dusk, they would
be swallowed, pass through her belly during the night, and be reborn at
dawn.
Nut is also the barrier separating the forces of chaos from the ordered
cosmos in the world. She was pictured as a woman arched on her toes
and fingertips over the earth; her body portrayed as a star-filled sky.
Nut’s fingers and toes were believed to touch the four cardinal points or
directions of north, south, east, and west. Because of her role in saving
Osiris, Nut was seen as a friend and protector of the dead, who appealed
to her as a child appeals to its mother: “O my Mother Nut, stretch
Yourself over me, that I may be placed among the imperishable stars
which are in You, and that I may not die.” Nut was thought to draw the
dead into her star-filled sky, and refresh them with food and wine: “I am
Nut, and I have come so that I may enfold and protect you from all things
evil.” She was often painted on the inside lid of the sarcophagus,
protecting the deceased. The vault of tombs often were painted dark blue
with many stars as a representation of Nut. The Book of the Dead says,
“Hail, thou Sycamore Tree of the Goddess Nut! Give me of the water and
of the air which is in thee. I embrace that throne which is in Unu, and I
keep guard over the Egg of Nekek-ur. It flourisheth, and I flourish; it
liveth, and I live; it snuffeth the air, and I snuff the air, I the Osiris Ani,
whose word is truth, in peace.
