R-LINK Evolution

Software installation guide

This update only applies to Renault vehicles equipped with R-LINK and R-LINK
Evolution whose Vehicle Information Numbers have been verified on the
website. Use this software only with your own Renault vehicle. Do not install it in
another car.

How to perform updates

Check if there are any updates Download this update on a USB Plug this USB stick into your

Prerequisite A: Make a note of your Vehicle Identification Number

You can find this number on your Renault vehicle or on your car registration certificate in
section E. This number is required in order to check that the update is compatible with your
Renault vehicle. The number starts with VF and has 17 characters without "i" or "o".

Prerequisite B: Use a USB stick in FAT32 format (8-32 GB)

To check whether your USB stick is in FAT32 format, go to the Properties tab (e.g.
right click if using a PC)

The USB stick must be empty. If this is not the case, delete everything on
the USB stick.

Prerequisite C: Have a decompression software

To unzip the download file, we recommend using 7-Zip (you can download this from
http://7zip.fr/). Don't forget to check that you have an active Internet connection throughout
the entire procedure.

And most importantly, do not interrupt a download in progress.

Step 1: Download the software update

Example screen The version number is indicated at the time of the download.

Step 2: Unzip the file

Unzip with 7-Zip using the "Extract" command.

Copy the file TOMTOM.000 to the root of the USB stick.

Start your engine and your R-LINK. Plug in your USB stick. Your R-LINK will automatically
detect the update on your USB stick (please wait a few moments). Do not switch off the
engine during the installation. The installation may take up to 20 minutes.

R-LINK checks the file

multimedia and driving assistance
features will be unavailable during

Step 4: Install the update on your R-LINK

You may now unplug the USB

Final checks

You can check whether the software update


has been carried out successfully by going to
Menu > System > Status and Information ->
Version Information. Example screen. The
version number is indicated at the time of the
download.

Don't forget to check that your R-LINK's connectivity is active in order to receive
Traffic info in real time.
