Deductive Lesson Plan Ma Final

This lesson plan is for a 6th grade science class on solid state matter. The objective is for students to identify the three states of matter and describe the properties and classes of solids. The lesson will begin with reviewing the three states of matter. Students will then explore solid objects in groups, observing properties using tools. They will share observations and discuss which observations help answer what makes something a solid. For evaluation, groups will submit a written report on their observations and questions. The assignment is for students to read about liquids and write a paragraph on what can create changes in the liquid state of matter.

SOLID STATE MATTER

Science VI

I. Objective
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Identify the 3 State of Matter
2. Describe the properties of solid matter and its classes.

II. Subject Matter: SOLID STATE OF MATTER

III. Lesson Proper

Teacher will review what matter is. The teacher use show a chart with the 3 State of
matter. The teacher will ask for volunteers to read. Teacher will explain and give an
overview of the 3 states of matter. Students will be asked to identify the differences
and similarities between them. The teacher tell students that they will learn more
about the properties of solid and the different class of solids. The teacher will show a
PowerPoint and will have discussion, the teacher will introduce the guiding question
for the solids investigation, "What makes a solid a solid?"

IV. Activity
Teacher will group students and will be provided with set of questions that they need
to answer as they explore. The students will be studying the solid objects at their
tables by using a variety of tools including a balance scale, rulers or tape measures
and magnifying glasses. Students will explore solids, the teacher will ask students to
share their observations on the solid objects at their tables. I. The students should
be directed to swap objects with their group partners, so each student has an

opportunity to handle and study all of the solid objects at the table. The teacher will
then gather the attention of the students. They will have a discussion of what students
learned .The teacher will record observations on the board. The teacher will facilitate
the discussion on which of these observations could help to answer the guiding
question: "What makes a solid a solid?" Teacher will ask if the materials they
observed are really solid.

V. Evaluation
Each group will provide a written report of their observation and what they wanted to
learn more about.

VI. Assignment:
Students will read about LIQUID STATE OF MATTER. They will write a paragraph
about what can create change in the LIQUID STATE OF MATTER.
