INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS, PAPER-I
TIME ALLOWED: THREE HOURS PART-I (MCQS) MAXIMUM MARKS = 20
PART-I(MCQS): MAXIMUM 30 MINUTES PART-II MAXIMUM MARKS = 80
NOTE:
i. Part-II is to be attempted on the separate Answer Book.
ii. Attempt ONLY FOUR questions from PART-II. ALL questions carry EQUAL marks.
iii. All the parts (if any) of each Question must be attempted at one place instead of at different
places.
iv. Write Q. No. in the Answer Book in accordance with Q. No. in the Q. Paper.
v. No Page/Space be left blank between the answers. All the blank pages of Answer Book must be
crossed.
vi. Extra attempt of any question or any part of the question will not be considered.
SUBJECTIVE PART ― PART-II

Q. 2. What are supranational actors? How the evolution of these actors has resulted in expansion of the
discipline of IR? How these actors are posing threat to nation-state system?

Q. 3. Briefly discuss the classical, positivist and post-positivist approach of IR? Furthermore, also briefly
explain Constructivism and Postmodernism? Explain the significance of these two theoretical
perspectives in interpretation of contemporary international relations in age of information.

Q. 4. Explain the evolution of concept of Security. Also discuss various facets of security manifestations
in 21st century.

Q.5. What are the key differences in traditional (conventional) and non-traditional (unconventional) war?
Explain the concept of “Hybrid War” and its relevance to Pakistan?

Q.6. “World has changed from vertical command and control to horizontal connect and collaborate.”
Analyze the statement with reference to free market world order and how this order has created a
new form of imperialism.

Q. 7. “Globalization was a myth. Nationalism is here to stay.” Explain the core concepts of both terms
and justify the statement on basis of current happenings of the globe.

Q. 8. Critically discuss the concept of Balance of Power in light of geo-political, geo-strategic and geo-
economic environment of South Asia. How the tool of diplomacy can help achieve our objectives
and long term stability of the region?
