Internship Report Writing Guide
2. Report Writing
A well-organized and easily readable report is expected. The following points are provided as
general guidelines in writing a good report:
Plan ahead on writing the report at the beginning of and during the internship period. This
step is to ensure that the information, when still fresh in the mind and at the time when
motivation is high, is being recorded.
Straightforward functional style of writing is recommended. Describe all pertinent facts,
work experience, and observation without extraneous information.
Clarity and readability may be improved by ensuring that

The reports should be written under headings in the following manner:
Cover Page
The Cover Page should display:
University Name (with Logo)
Title of the Report
School and Department
Student Full Name and ID No.
Company Name
Name of Supervisors (both the company and Academic)
Table of Contents
Contents of the report with chapters and page numbers, list of tables, and
list of figures.
The organizational structure and principal activities of the company may be briefly described. Its
training schedule, assignments undertaken in chronological sequence and objectives may be
described. Technical and other implementation details may also be described like the working
area and mentoring situation.
Students are expected to display a broader interest and within the limits set by his status, to gain
information and form impressions on various aspects of corporate functions. Activities of
particular technical interest, whether or not within a student’s own major field should also be
described such as working environment, evaluation of tasks, implications for future study and
career planning, comparison expectations with actual experience, and projected outcomes
(project work, chances to start career, etc.).

In this section you should answer the following questions:
1. What skills and qualifications you think that you have gained from the
Internship?
2. What kind of responsibilities you have undertaken during the Internship
period?
3. How do you think the Internship will influence your future career plans?
4. How do you think the Internship activities that you carried out are
correlated with your classroom knowledge?
Conclusion
This section includes concluding remarks on the work performance,
observations and training experience.
References
You may need to support your work with available literature, for instance
the company website, pamphlets, publications, etc. The references shall be
listed using appropriate format.

3. Grading
Students should submit the internship reports to their company supervisors and get them
endorsed and cleared (the clearance form shall be attached to the report). A copy of the report
will then be submitted to their institution-based supervisors for grading. The grading of the
report will therefore be evaluated based primarily on:
