Cat® Positive Pin

Retention Track
now standard for
Cat D9R and D10R
Track-Type Tractors

Positive Pin Retention (PPR) Track is now standard on all Cat D9R
and D10R Track-Type Tractors manufactured after November 1,
1998. PPR track has been standard on D11N and D11R machines
since first production.

PPR features an exclusive Caterpillar design that resists link

end play, helps retain sealability and maximizes track life, while
lowering undercarriage operating costs. The exclusive positive
pin retention design mechanically locks the track link to the pin
with a metal retaining ring to resist end-play generation and link
movement on the pin. Joint sealability is increased in applications
where end-play growth can exceed the capacity of the seal. PPR
ensures seal to bushing face contact and oil retention on sealed
and lubricated track.

Positive Pin Retention track is recommended for most applications,

including those that generate high loads and impact, twist the track
chain, and cause end play, such as mining, heavy construction,
demolition, and waste disposal applications. PPR track is also
recommended for tractors equipped with wider shoes, Extreme
Service (ES) shoes or Super Extreme Service (SES) shoes.
