1.Background
Technology in education in a now days is an important thing that teacher must apply at the
school. We realize that education in our country must develop year by year to make the learning
process become more efficient. ICT or we know as Information Communication and Technology
can we used as the media in the language teaching. Sometimes students get easily bored and
become not interested in study so we as a teacher must find a media that will make the students
interested and enjoying the learning process. ICT media can be the solution. There are many
kinds of ICT media that you can use for example like Kahoot, PowToon, Canva, articulate
storyline, and many kind of them. Teacher must be creative in making the media to deliver their
material. An interesting media is an important point in deliver the material. By using ICT media
it help the teacher to make the media that interesting. Articulate storyline is one of the ICT media
that I mentioned before. Articulate storyline is a software that looks like a power point but more
interesting. By developing an articulate storyline you will make an interesting media that
students probably like. As you know everything in now days are completely online. Articulate
storyline is a software which you can build your own online learning easily. It is definitely what
the teacher need in their life, a software that can make it easier for them to present material
interestingly.
Not many people know about articulate storyline, so in this chance I would like to try
developing this software in term reading comprehension procedure text at 9th grade Junior High
School. I choose this software because I want to try something new that I never had before. I
already make Kahoot, Powtoon, mind mapping apk and power point in delivering material when
making a presentation, but I never had this one. At first I don’t know what is articulate storyline,
but after I searched it on YouTube I thought it would be interesting if I can develop this
software.

Smith states that “reading comprehension is an activities that readers do to link new information
with an old information to get new knowledge”. In a reading comprehension there are also an
aspects that we must consider, the aspects itself are :
To fulfill all aspects in reading comprehension we must use media that appropriate. To make
students more interesting we can use the Computer technology. Computer technology in this case
is used for teaching and learning activities. ICT or we know as Information and Communication
Technology can be a media to deliver some information to the others. Based on Anatta Sannai
(in Asmani, 2011 : 100) Information and Communication Technology is a tool or media in
gaining a knowledge between a person to another person. ICT also can we use to support the
learning process that can supported in improving the quality of learning and expand access to
education and learning (Elang Krisnadi, 2009). For this case, I would like to use procedure text
as the material to test and train students reading comprehension. Procedure text is a text that we
usually find in our daily life. Procedure text based on Anderson and Anderson (2007:50), is a
text that give an instruction to do something. The media that I will use is an articulate storyline.
It is a software almost looks like a power point but more interesting. In articulate storyline we
can give our material and also give a quiz, then after you finish your quiz there are review and
score for your quiz. So it will help you to know that are you really understand about the material
or not.
1. first of all, you must download the software from the articulate storyline website
2. usually if you download from the website there are free trials for about 30 days, but you also
can pay the software so you can free to use it without day estimate.
3. don’t forget to register to the articulate online because it will be more easy if you publish your
articulate on this website.
4. after you register and you got your software, then you can start to make your own media for
teaching.
5. think about the concept that you will use in this software.
6. this software is almost like power point, each slide you can design as you want just like a
power point but what makes it different is you can add some character that already on this
software and give a button bell to each slide to jump to another slide that you want.
8. after that, you can make some quiz to test how far your students understand about your
material.
9. after the quiz you also can make the result and review to the quiz so your students will
understand they mistakes and can learn from it.
10. in the end this software can you publish to your articulate online that you already registered
before, So your students can use it online and can learn it everywhere.

informasi terkait resep makanan/minuman dan manual, pendek dan sederhana, sesuai
dengan konteks penggunaannya.
2. Menentukan struktur teks prosedur lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan meminta
informasi terkait resep makanan/minuman dan manual, pendek dan sederhana, sesuai
dengan konteks penggunaannya.
3. Menentukan unsur kebahasaan teks prosedur lisan dan tulis dengan memberi dan
