 Instructional strategies to be used and their rationale:

 Group Discussions: They are essential for building background on specific issues, creating
motivation and interest, and giving students a forum for expressing and exploring new ideas
and information. Group discussions help students learn to articulate their views and respond
to opinions that differ from their own. Group discussions may involve the whole class or a
small group. Participating in group discussions help students consider other people’s
perspectives and develop effective problem solving skills.
 Talking circles are useful when students can share feelings. The purpose of talking circles is
not to reach a decision or consensus. Rather, it is to create a safe environment for students to
share their points of view with others and gain trust in their classmates. They come to believe
that what they say will be heard and accepted without criticism. They may also gain an
empathetic appreciation for other points of view.
 Peer Partner Learning can assist students as one is the “doer, student” who performs the
tasks and the other the “helper, teacher” who observes, provides feedback and information.
The partner then reverse roles. This will encourage students to learn from each other and
develop skills.
