I. Company Description
The National Power Corporation (Filipino: Pambansang Korporasyon sa
Elektrisidad, also known as Napocor, NPC or National Power), is a
Philippine government-owned and controlled corporation. It was created under
Commonwealth Act No. 120 on November 3, 1936 as a non-stock government
corporation. The law nationalized the hydroelectric industry and reserved for the use
of NPC, all streams, lakes and springs in the Philippines where power may be
developed, subject to existing rights. In 1960, NPC was converted into a stock
corporation wholly owned by the government under Republic Act 2641. (National

Before the deregulation of the power industry in 2001, NPC was a vertically
combined power utility engaged in the production, transmission, and distribution of
electric power and used to be the largest provider and generator of electricity in the
Philippines. NPC is mandated to provide electricity to all rural areas of the Philippines
by 2025 (known as "missionary electrification"), to manage water resources for power
generation, and to opt and optimize the use of other power generating assets.
Mission
National Power Corporation is committed to:
Provide reliable power generation and its associated power delivery systems to
ensure total electrification of missionary areas while encouraging private sector
participation;
Manage its watershed and dam operations to support power generation;
Operate and maintain the Agus and Pulangi hydroelectric power plants; and
Adopt innovative power technologies and business processes to respond customer
needs.
Vision
A world-class power corporation providing reliable and reasonably-priced
electricity in all missionary areas by 2025; managing sustainable watersheds and dam
resources for power generation; and optimizing the use of remaining power
generating assets.
Objectives
Goal 1: Improve power supply services in existing missionary area.
Goal 2: Contribute to sustainable hydro power generation in the Main Grid.
Goal 3: Accelerate total privatization of PSALM assets.
Goal 4: Achieve 100% Electrification of targeted/ identified unelectrified households
in all missionary areas.
Goal 5: Contribute to sustainable hydro and geothermal power generation through the
effective management of watersheds under NPC supervision.
Goal 6: Adopt indigenous and sustainable power sources in missionary areas.
Goal 7: Encourage the inflow of private capital in missionary areas.
