SAP was founded in 1972 by former IBM employees in Germany to create integrated business software. It released its first financial accounting software R/1 in 1973. In 1979, SAP released R/2, a mainframe system that provided real-time processing across key business functions. A critical release was R/3 in 1992, which helped launch SAP onto the global stage using a client-server model. Today, SAP remains one of the largest enterprise software companies in the world with its ERP software and other applications like S/4HANA used by over 15,000 companies globally across many industries.

SYSTEM.

TOPIC: SYSTEM APPLICATIONS AND

PRODUCTS FOR DATA
PROCESSING.
SYSTEM APPLICATIONS AND
PRODUCTS FOR DATA
PROCESSING.
• SAP was started in 1972 by five former IBM employees in
Germany. It stands for Systems, Applications and Products in
Data Processing.
•SAP SE, a global software company, is one of the largest
vendors of ERP and other enterprise applications.
•In 1973, SAP released R/1, a financial accounting system. R/1
ran on IBM servers and DOS, and it had a single-tier
architecture in which presentation, applications and data were on
one platform
• In 1979, SAP released R/2, a mainframe system that provided
real time data processing across accounting, manufacturing,
supply chain and human resources. R/2 used a two-tier
architecture, where presentation was on one platform and
applications and data were on another. R/2 helped power SAP’s
growth.
• In 1992, SAP released R/3, which represented a switch from
mainframe computing to the client-server model, and from a
two-tier to a three-tier architecture, in which presentation,
applications and data were housed separately. R/3 was a critical
product for SAP that launched the company onto the world
stage.
REAL TIME PROCESSING
• Real-time processing is defined as the processing of
unbounded stream of input data, with very short latency
requirements for processing — measured in milliseconds
or seconds. This incoming data typically arrives in an
unstructured or semi-structured format, such as JSON,
and has the same processing requirements as batch
processing, but with shorter turnaround times to support
real-time consumption.
• Processed data is often written to an analytical data
store, which is optimized for analytics and visualization.
The processed data can also be ingested directly into the
analytics and reporting layer for analysis, business
intelligence, and real-time dashboard visualization.

FUTURE OF SAP
• SAP S/4HANA, as the intelligent ERP, is actually the
central component of SAP’s Intelligent Enterprise
strategy. An intelligent ERP makes it possible for
companies to adapt and scale with the agility and
flexibility that is required in today’s markets. From a
technology perspective, SAP is moving into a highly
integrated but modular approach to provide an integrated,
intelligent suite for customers, for sure based on cloud
native technologies. And here, this will help us to deliver
continuous innovations and services to customers.
• For sure, a total foundation of that is an open, thriving
ecosystem, which means open APIs to really be able to
extend our solutions. The new norm, actually, is artificial
intelligence. SAP integrates it and embeds it in every
business process across the entire SAP S/4HANA suite.
And SAP HANA, as the underlying platform, is actually
enabling business processes at scale, which has never
been possible before.
SAP INTERFACE:
The SAP interfaces enable business process integration
and asynchronous data communication between two or
more SAP systems or between SAP and external systems.
The following interfaces exist for SAP software:
BAPI interfaces
• BAPI work unit interface
• BAPI result set interface
• ALE interface
• ALE pass-through IDOC interface
• Query interface
• Advanced event processing interface
In 1972, in Mannheim, Germany, three engineers had an
idea. They wanted produce a software that becomes
standard in the market for integrated business solutions
and kicked the small business (with a compressed name)
called “System Analysis and Development Program”.
Since then, that company is called SAP (Systems,
Applications and Products in Data Processing).
R / 3 is considered standard in industries from the start,
SAP was devoted to software for business applications.
By working with business and IT executives and having
partners worldwide, SAP developed a unique way to
understand the challenges encountered in the
implementation of technology solutions for business
users, developing software that can help companies
integrate their business processes helping the entire
company run more orderly. The versatile and modular
systems can be quickly and easily adapted to new
business processes so as to increase their capacity as they
grow the business.
Today, SAP is the largest developer of software for
business applications in the world and the fourth largest
independent software vendor in absolute terms. More than
7,500 companies (over 15,000 rooms) in more than 90
countries choose SAP systems for mainframe and client /
server to control processes in finance, manufacturing,
sales, distribution and operations essential to human
resources. Such as petroleum, chemical, consumer
products, high tech / electronics.
SAP consolidated its leadership position in the enterprise
software market in the course of its strong strategic
expansion. The company hired more than 6,500
professionals to its global staff, primarily in the areas of
research and development, sales and consulting. SAP is a
public company with shares traded on stock exchanges
globally.
