LEARNING MODULE 09:

Guidelines in Making Conclusions and Recommendations

Quarter: 04 Week: 09
Name:___________________________________________________________________
Grade & Section:______________________________ Score:__________________
Teacher:_______________________________________ Date:___________________

Learning Competencies
• Draw conclusions from research findings CS_RS12-IIh-j-1
• Formulate recommendations CS_RS12-IIh-j-2

Objectives

• To explain conclusion and recommendation of a quantitative

research.
• To formulate a conclusion and a recommendation.
• To distinguish the salient points of writing a conclusion and a
recommendation.

Let’s Understand
Drawing Conclusion
A conclusion is an inference, abstraction, implication, interpretation,
or generalization based on the study. As an academic writer, you must ensure
that your conclusion is well-crafted. It should help the readers have a better
understanding of the research problems. It must be based on the findings
that you have gathered from the collected data. Also, it should feature the
value of the developed argument or thesis which should bring out the results
and discussion of the statements. Remember that the conclusion should
answer the specific questions that are written at the beginning of the study
which goes under the statement of the problems. Also, a conclusion should be
written concisely and should be based on the population, area, or subject of
the study only.
Guidelines in Writing a Conclusion
1. Highlights the key points in your analysis or results.
2. Summarize your thoughts and convey the most significant in your

1
study.
3. Identify the gap in the addressed literature.
4. Demonstrate the importance of your study.
5. Introduce a new perspective on the research problem.
Formulating the Recommendations of the Study
The recommendation addresses the limitations and suggestions of
how to overcome the issues or problems in the study. A recommendation
should address the key finding which was developed during the data collection
and analysis.

Guidelines in Writing a Recommendation

1. It should solve the problems that are discovered during the study.
2. It should only recommend for something that has been discussed in
the study.
3. It can recommend a continuation or improvement of the study.

Let’s Apply
With the problems and findings of your research paper, write the conclusion of
your study.

Let’s Analyze
Write down three salient points of writing a conclusion and a
recommendation.
Conclusion Recommendation

2
Let’s Try
Write True if the statement is correct and write False in the statement
is incorrect.
_________ 1. A conclusion should be as long as the body of the research
paper.
__________ 2. A conclusion shows the value of the developed argument or
thesis.
__________ 3. A conclusion can refer to a population or subjects beyond the
study.
_________ 4. A recommendation gives suggestions that can improve the
study.
_________ 5. A recommendation is subjectively formulated.

Let’s Create
*Goal
To write a sample conclusion and recommendation of the research
paper

*Role
Researcher

*Audience
Your audience will be your classmates, learning facilitator, and
teacher.

*Situation
Get a copy and study a sample research paper from the library. Study
the methodology and result findings and then, write your own version
of conclusion and recommendation.

*Product Performance
A sample of Chapter 5 of the research paper (Conclusion and
Recommendation)
