A. Main Idea
a. Wired Network and Wireless network
Wired Network is a transmission medium that uses cables. This transmission
medium has limited coverage and takes up a lot of space for cable networks. However,
this transmission medium has fast data transfer capabilities, a high level of security and
is usually used in local areas.
Wireless network is a transmission medium without cables and only utilizes electronic
waves. The advantage is that it can be accessed by users wherever they are, but the data
transfer capability is smaller than that of a wired network.
The difference between the two is that Wired networks use cables as the transmission
medium, higher security and faster data transfer capabilities than wireless networks,
while wireless networks use electromagnetic waves but are more practical because they
can be accessed anywhere.
b. Troubleshooting Wired Network and Wireless Network
Network troubleshooting is a systematic process that is applied to solve network
problems. Basically there are three main steps in performing network troubleshooting,
1) isolating the problem
2) Solution to problem
3) Problem solving solutions.
Trouble Shooting Network caused by several things including:
damage at the Physical level (Network device), such as Switch, Ethernet
Card, and Network Cable
Incorrect Network Settings & Configuration. Example: Wrong Cable
Crimping, Wrong IP Settings, etc.
Virus Network
Example
Troubleshooting: Cable is disconnected or loose Problem
Analysis & Solutions : This condition indicates the cable connection is
disconnected, there is no connection to the router / modem.
Check if any of the cables are loose
If the cable is perfectly connected to the router / switch, try swapping to
another port on the router / switch. You can also check the status of the lights
on the router or switch when the cable is connected to the computer what
number the port is connected to, usually the light will flash if there is a
connection to the wireless router / switch on the port in question.
If there is still a disconnected status, try replacing the network cable with a
new one or try borrowing a proven cable from the next computer.
If the status is still disconnected, while other computers are running – then
you can suspect your adapter is damaged. Replace it with a new one.

B. Application
The development of technology and the addition of cases of the Covid-19 pandemic have
affected many sectors in human life. education is no exception. The use of technology as a
learning medium is the only way to continue the teaching and learning process. Having
knowledge in the field of wired and wireless network connections and troubleshooting wired
and wireless networks will make it easier for teachers and students if there are problems with
the device or device used.
